Health Concerns:Fear of pregnancy
2009-09-24
Name: Rene I was surprised and yet comforted when I learned of tocophobia. I am 52 yrs of age and I had two sons, many years ago. I was nervous as a new mom, but informed, my husband and I went to lamaze classes together both times and he was very supportive. I don' t know why I developed a serious fear of getting pregnant AFTER having two perfect babies and pregnancies! But, I recently learned that I put a serious wedge of resentment between my husband and myself. I panicked when I suspected I might be pregnant after sex and made life basically miserable for him. To this day, he resents the angst and worry I went thru, he feels that I did not ' trust' him to go ahead and have more children, and what is the worst...he really wanted a little girl. The boys are men now and call me and are close to me, my husband feels hurt and left out and completely resents me for not having more children and mostly for the irrational way that I behaved after each time we had sex, worrying that I could be pregnant. I didn' t know anything about tocophobia. I am hoping that someone can relate to my story so that I can help resolve the open and very sore issue with my husband?
