Due Date Club December 2006:my update

I went for my regular appointment with my gyneac today and the good news was that i am 1 cm dialated and she feels the baby is in a very good position for a normal delivery. I am 38 weeks 2 days pregnant.
My question is how long does it generally takes for the labor to begin after the dialation has started. I know this is very vague and stupid but i thought maybe i could get some hint. I do have braxton hicks but no real contractions as of now.

it's indeed vague and honestly nothing can be said by swearing upon. all can be said is your body is making progress, especially you facing BHC will help efface and/or dilate cervix further, that's indeed a good sign to reduce trouble while in actual labor.
Know cases who effaced 50-70% and dilated 2-4cm but went crossing EDD. On the other hand there are cases who did not have effacement or dilation on their last check up and got in labor right in a few hrs following check up and ends up in short labor. These are facts and they are vague in themselves.
