Due Date Club September 2007:when do u have first scan

Name: vidya Hi friends,

I' m 10weeks pregent. I stay in UK. The midwife has given an appointment only in the 11 week and she deceide on the scan that day. I suppose in India by this time they would have had 2 scans atleast. Am I missing something? Also i have vomiting and nausea any home remedies?

hi vidya..
i live in switzerland... and i had my first appt during the 8th week... and i had my first scan then.... but that was just luck.. that i got my appt at 8 weeks... 11 weeks is fine too..
i have my next scan at 13 weeks to check for downs syndrome..
don' t worry abt scans... they do nothing except see if everything is fine... so it does' nt matter if you have it earlier or later..

Hi ira,

Thanx. I had my check up with my midwife yesterday and she has fixed an appoinment next week for the scan. She told that in UK they do two scans in the 12 week and another in the 20 week. After meeting her it was a great relief bocz once the pregency is confirmed by urine sample they meet only in 11 week.

Nothing to worry

Vidya,

The scan in the first trimester is mostly to confirm the pregnancy and identify which week of pregnancy you are in. AFAIK, there is not much of diagnosis done on these scans in the early weeks of pregnancy.

I heard in India they take scans on or after 12th week. Dont worry, you are not missing anything.
