Took my 4 week old son to the ped. He has eruptions all over his body. He has baby acne on his face and some parts of his body and contact dermatitis on his scalp, genitals and other parts of the body. He looks in a very bad shape. He cries a lot too. I get the feeling that he must be itching.
The doc said that the baby acne will go on its own. re the contact derm. she has prescribed 0.5 % hydrocortisone to be applied twice daily. She asked me to change the soap to aveeno hypoallergenic, the detergent to tide free, and if possible use cloth diaper. She also recommends vaseline for the diaper rash.

Now I want to know if any one has the same problems. If yes then what are you doing? Also can you pls tell me what else I can do to relieve my poor son's misery. I feel very helpless. Do you live in the States? If so, my sis recommends Dr. Smith's cream for diaper rash, not vaseline - or you can use Balmex or something like that (but Dr. Smith's is the best)

Chetna 2ndtmom replied. my son went through eczema too.. ask ur doc if u can use \";ELIDEL\";.. this is much much better than any other and without steroid too.. try to moist his skin often with aquaphor or ecurine.. and try to avoid using soap often especially \";soap bar\";.. use liquid soap and for his scalp, put oil on hair and try to comb it and repeat it 2-3 times a day.. Our kids seem to be having the same problems !!! well riya got these rashes or kid eczema arnd 5th week and it still continues. Its part of grwth spurts and does appear in some kids. My daughter too has a lot of rash in her skin and Sebhorea dermatitis in her scalp and behind ears. This will go by 3 months time, and if any of the parents have a history of allergic problems, it may persist a bit longer.

For the pimple like rash try applyign ur milk on the skin, u will see the antiseptic properties does change it...

Its difficult to see our baby in such a astate.. but its part of growing up. So dont worry, it will get over soon. U mayalso notice that when these rashes appeared there was a drastic change in ur baby, must have grown a bit etc..

I dont know abt cloth diaper n all, dependes where u live. IF u are in india, then maybe u shoudl switch to it cos the humidity will cause daiper rash. But otherwise its ok to use other diapers.

I have a 10 month old daughter, who is still suffering from severe eczema. It's not easy to deal, but you have to. We already had been to the hospital twice. She is much better now, so there is always hope.

For washing clothes, try avoiding any detergent.
