Due Date Club September 2004:How much is enough?

Name: chini My son has feeds almost every 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour unlike the recommended 2 hour gap. Since he drinks only for about 5 minutes and that too on one breast and takes the other breast in the next feed, I do not know whether he is full. How many ounces of feed is enough for a month old baby? What are the other mothers doing? Is any mother facing the same problem?

hi chini,

my daughter is one month old and even i am facing the same problem.she was 6 pounds and 13 oz. when she was born and now she is 8 pounds and 13 oz. is she doing ok?.i am also very much worried.i feed her whenever she wants.she feeds for less than 10 minutes.
is this weight growth ok?

facin the same thing

hi gals ,
my son is 12days old from yesterday he feeds only for 5min on one side and sleeps for just 10min and again starts crying.i m awake all day and night.really very tired can anyone help me plz reply

Hi Rekha,

I know its very tiring to be awake all night n day especially after delivery. I suggest that if your son just drinks for 5 mins, then try to pump milk, and feed him thru bottle. He will at least take more amounts than what he does by suckling. He will at least be full n sleep for more time, and u too will get time for urself. Mabbe he gets too tired now to feed for more time, as he is just 12 days old. Give him time, he will change the habit soon.

I 2 am going thru the sme thng, riya feeds 4 abt 10 mins only n she is up in an hr. She is 6 weeks old n her growth is fine accordng 2 t doc, hence am not cincerned much.

dont worry if ur son's growth is fine thn he wl change hs habits soon
