Hi Devi

I am a childbirth educator and I know it must be very worrying for you now. However since you just 12 weeks pregnant the efect on your baby i.e risk for birth defects is very low only 0.5 - 1 %. The risk increases to 2% between 12 - 20 weeks. You have taken immediate action in the form of medication of anti-virus tablets you are well taken care of. Try to relax and have faith in God. Only getting chicken pox just before delivery or roight after delivery puts the baby at more of contracting the virus. Take care Deepa

Hi Devi,

You had chickenpox in ur childhood or not?
As you are in ur 1st trimister only. So it' s the risk time because ur babies nurvous system is still under construction.
Once i discussed this with my doctor but at that time i had croseed 20th week so she said it' s not going to harm the baby at all, because babies all parts have been formed.

So it' s better you take some 2nd opinion also as u r in early stage right now.

Regards,
Rupal
