Pregnancy Myths:Coffee Is caffeine a no no in pregnancy?
2013-01-07
Name: Sarika

Many pregnant women are told not to have morning cup of coffee, and often they' re warned to give up caffeine because it might cause miscarriage and other child birth complications.I want to know is it just a misconception , a myth or a fact because i really like coffee everyday and dont really want to quit it during my expected pregnancy.

Actually I would say its not completely a myth because it depends on individual to individual.Coffee as such might not be harmful , but in case you have a migraine problem like in my case , then you must avoid coffee because of its caffeine content for sure. Else, frequent headaches may make your life miserable during pregnancy.

Ya I agree that the case against caffeine isn' t strong. There seems to be no relationship between caffeine consumption and preterm birth. I never had quit coffee when I was pregnant and didn’t face any troubles as such. So Sarika, you can continue enjoying your morning coffee without any fear!
