Hello All

My sister is in US and she' s concerned about her irregular periods. Her medical provider has told that she has thyroid problem. The medications that her mp has given , makes her dizzy, mood swings, vomiting, etc.. (Sick feeling totally !). She needs some help. She' s my only sis and I' m worried if that leads to any problem in conceiving, pregnancy, baby etc..! She has hemoglobin issue as well. Sh wanted me to check with some good doc in Bangalore on this. What' s your advise. Some one who was/is in the same boat but by god' s grace improving, pls share your advise.

First thing to remember is not to stress yourself. Be calm and relaxed. I know it is easier said than done, but please try.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a few months back. I am on medication since then and check my TSH level every month or so and it is within control.

I was told that conception is difficult with this condition. And the risk of miscarriage is higher. I conceived and am in the second trimester and doing well by God' s grace. So, this condition is quite common and easily controllable. So, relax.

Regarding the medication that your sister is on... it is very important that she lets her doc know her condition. He/she might change the medicine or alter the dosage. There are specialists called reproductive endocrinologists (I think) who specialize in thyroid + reproduction. Your sister can consult one such doctor.

Don' t panic. Stress only worsens the condition.

All the best for your sister and ask her to take care.

Hi,
I am hypothyroid. My doctor say hypotyroid patients need to check their TSH levels only in 3rd moth of pregnancy. But i read on net that it should be done as soon as you confirm that you are pregnant.
I would like to know when you have done the tests. And please share any important things to take care.

Thank you,
