with bw 4.25kgs and current wght 8.2kgs,,at 5.5months,,a healthy boy is expected to have around 8.2kgs to 8.8kgs,,!!! irrespective of born newhere, if and only if, both the parents are from indian origin !

if you ask me exact,,he should be 8.5kgs.
200-300grams here and there is not a problem,,jst make sure the diff does not grow to more than 700grams !!!!

ask your dr about growth weght charts, milestone charts and it will help you make his graph at home, weekly atleast until he is 1 year...

avoid relying on online information and websites,,,,your child health standards are judge acc to the place he is born and not just the origin or medical standards set by that country,,so go by what your dr gives you !!! avoid relying on charts that dont consider the birthwghts.

you can rely on online information for an approximatn or just a guidance but not as a permanent tool !

take care/..

its imp for baby to gain wght every month, from the time they are born to until 1 year of thr life,,as and whn thr body prepares for cruising,,and such,,in order to balance the body capact to bear its own wght,,baby wght gain reduces as and when he progresses further,,,500grams is still better, no problems,,,if baby wght keeps increases in kgs,,imagine how will he cope with his own wght when he will start crawling etc!!! most babies wght growth in first 3-4months is accelrtd grwth,,from 3-4months - 6-8months,,it becomes more or less wght gain but proportionate and not acclertd..and thn after 8-10months,,the wght gain is further reduced to half the % of the prop wght gain !!!!! and thn from 1year, onwards it often becomes constant or very nominal...thats how after 1 year,,wght gain is checked on yearly or 6monthly basis for considerng good health and not on monthly basis !!
hope this explains you..
your baby is on proper line,,so i will not recmnd nething other thn wat you are givng,,,just make sure that his wght does not stop at one particular marking or a figure,,when you draw the graph !!!!
rest all is just fine !
good luck

Thanks a lot! Dr keeps saying it is ok, weight is not major issue as long as child is active and putting on some weight regularly. But i was little worried as he does not seem to be putting on.he had not put on only 500gm in 3rd mth as my bm reduced, so i inroduced nan formula milk which he does not relish. He takes only 3 ounce at 9am. then thin khichdi at 12, then milk 2-3 ounce at 3. at 5 he takes fruit (chikoo/papaya or boiled apple) juice. At 7 he takes little veg soup +2 spoon cerelac rice.at 9.30 he takes thin khichdi again.bm on demand throughout day and night.hope it is ok.
