Hello All,
First of all would like to congratulate July 2008 moms!! Since our 1st trimester has started,it is important for all of us to be on a good diet to lay down good foundation of our baby. Would appreciate suggestions in this direction ,like foods to avoid, foods to be taken in extra amounts, some recipes of traditional foods for this period and so on....and tips on exercise?

Subject:  is tea safe during pregnancy?



Hi All,
Had a question, is it safe to have Indian style tea [i.e. with milk and sugar]during 1st trimester. I have a habit of drinking tea in the morning for breakfast,else I have headache, however, i don' t drink the entire cup ,just few sips.

chill chill...
its absolutly fine to drink tea the indian way but dont put in too much sugar ... and limit it to 2 to 3 cups ...only if ur a cofee addict limit to 1 or 2 cups a day only....

welcome to this journey im from may - june board presently 11 wks ...
well exercise of any kind is strictly prohibited because now is the xtremly crucial time of the babys life the only exercise i do is walking 30mnts,deepbrething ,a bit of hand and leg roattion and most importantly kegels....
abt ... donot diet and donot eat for 2 persons at this point jst abt 200 calories xtra is more than enough and by the end of the trimister u shld gain in wt....
as lot of discomforts are setting in try to avoid simple carbs,refined sugars,excess salt,to curb morning sickness include high protein and complex carbs
eat lot of fruits,veggies,chicken ,fish ,eggs( if u r a nv) and most importantly drink lots of water ( 3 to 4 ltrs a day)
also fatigue is a big battle to fight try to get lots of rest min of 8 to 9 hrs of sleep everyday
lastly be happy ,peaceful and practice deep breathing

i m in india..is this is ur 1st preg???
when was ur last mens date?? if u type in google week by week devlopment of baby u will get in various sites which u help u locate ur dtls also i had got cpl of usg done where the last one suggests the weeks
well u may how do u know that is the week every week has a certain charecteristic dev and ceratin parameters if the growing foetus matches those it is considered that ur that particular week preg....
choosing a doc and hospital in india and us is a bit different so its best u ask someone out there or specify that who ever stays in us help u out in this board
also dont go overboard
keep me posted and feel free to ask any querry

Thank you so much fo rthe info, actually I had increased my diet but I think I should watch out and not go to overboard:) one more question, how did you calculate that u r 11 week pregnant? also are u in the USA or India? I am in the USA, had some questions finding hospitals, maternity classes etc..

yes yes you can drink Tea absolutely no problem with that.. But not more than 2 cups a day.
i read somewhere Cofee is v harmful for the baby since it contains caffine. do not eat chocolates, cakes,ice-creams and artificially flavoured foods.all these r v harmful for baby..
