I got an orange drink from my docs office on my last visit & is asked to drink the whole bottle in 10mnts time and come in for a blood work exactly after an hour. Is there anything else I should be careful about while taking this test? My doc said I can have a regular meal before drinking this but is it ok to drink water in that one hour time after u drank that orange liquid?

Please let me know how u all did this test.

~ mansi sharmila replied. Mansi, this is the first kind of test for gestational diabetes and what your doc asked you to do is exactly right. If the result on this test is equal to or greater than 140 mg, then you will be asked to do teh oral glucose test for which you will have to give blood and urine 4 times. Once on empty sotmach and then every hr for 3 hours after having 100gm of glucose drink. This is said to be the most accurate test and if you pass it you will not get gest. diabetes.
I just got my result today and thank God all is normal and nothing to worry. So dont worry coz worrying can also shoot up your blood sugar level.....

As you said, I took the drink in 10-15 mins and had my blood drawn exactly after 1 hr. you should note the time when you finish the drink and tell them when u reach the clinic that you need the blood drawn at a particular time. i had my regular meals and didnt drink water after having the orange drink.
