Hi girls,
I am quite upset today. I had my glucose intolerance test, and they said I may be at a high risk for diabetes. That really bites, because I am not eating as much as many pregnant women do, and I am still gaining weight.

The doc said if it comes back high, I will have to go on a diet plan, and if that fails, go on to administer insulin shots to myself. This really scares me.

He said Indians in general have high rates of diabetes.

I am really bummed out today. The results come out by early next week. vidya replied. hi Ritu!
Don't worry..If its gestational diabetes its would go away after u'r delivery ...there are 2 girls whom I know who had healthy babies with proper diet control. There is another lady who was above 35 & who had diabetes earlier ...she managed to eat healthy food and delieverd a healthy baby.. don't worry....u'r little one would feel sad if u are sad too ....

vidya Debi replied. Dont worry - thats very common during pregnancy. My friend also had the same problem - high sugar. She is on diet now. Check your sugar with glucometer regularly.

Sometimes its hereditary - if any one of your parents has high blood pressure - it happens sometimes.

I dont think its serious at all.

Stress and tension are jsut not good for u. I understand its very disappointing to know that u have gestational diabetes, but it is very normal, and it is not ahigh risk problem.
My friend was diagonised too, she gave birth to a 7.2 lbs healthy baby. I know there is a lot of struggle with the diet , but u can get thro' this with ur will.
what week r u in? My Dr. said she will do my glucose intolerence test only between week 24 and 28. are u above 25yrs of age?
