Hi all,

I' m 5 weeks pregnant. I tested positive last week and had my first check up and tests done on the same day. Today I got a call from the Dr.' s office saying that my blood sugar level is showing slightly elivated and so she wants me to come in and do a 3 hour test. Am really worried about it. Will there be any complications? Anyone has sailed or sailing on the same boat? Please share your knowledge regarding this matter.

Looking forward to get replies soon! Thanks.

I had 3 hour GTT test done day before yesterday. Ensure that you take someone along with you. I almost fainted after they took my last blood sample.I read in one of the replies that water was not allowed. In my case they allowed me to have water. They also took urine sample every 1 hour may be to correlate with the blood samples. The blood/urine report seems to be normal. I have to confirm with my gyn through. Dont worry about the test. I am slightly anaemic too. when I took the 1 hour test, I felt nauseatic may be bacause I was in the 4th month and was feeling nausea anyway. But things have improved after that. I was quite comfortable till they took the last blood sample. Everything will turn out fine for you too.

Hi Tabassum,

I actually had the 3 hr test 2 days back and it turned to be normal. So i guess you shudn' t be worrying if you have never had this any time before pregnancy. I didn' t have a chance to know the count level as I got the msg from doc that it was normal.

My husband was so sure that it might have raised little bit due to anxiety as it was on the same of first prenatal check up when we went to confirm abt the pregnancy. So if it' s the same case for you, I hope and pray it turns out normal for you.

Have you had diabetes before? Is any one of your family members having diabetes? I was too worried too as my father is diabetic. Anyway, it was really tiring for me too. The Nurse in the lab was very nice to me. They had asked me to fast from midnight and not to drink or eat anyhting until the test was done, not even water. So make sure you ask them abt evrything before you go in to test. They gave me some glucose water initially and that' s it, no water or anything after that for 3 hrs. What i did was every time after they drawn the blood, i went to the car and lay down and then be there agin by that exac time. Make sure you take your husband along with you. Why do you want to deny the test? I feel that it better to have checked thoroughly, so that we can take care of ourselves and the baby accordingly. if you are worried abt becomming weak, ask your Gyn abt what are good source of gaining blood and eat accordingly. Guess you will be then taking iron tablets.

Hope to hear from you soon and pray it turns out normal to you too! Is it your first pregnancy? Keep in touch and don' t worry, it might be because of the excitement & anxiety! Let me know!

Hi ..

I am also sailing in the same boat.Yesterday I met my doctor and she said my blood sugar level is slightly high it is suppose to be 130 and I am showing 152. She recommended the 3 hour test? What are your counts check with the doctor.

I am only worried about drawing so much blood for the test coz I am anemic and the last time i had the 1 hr test I felt very weak and my pressure was fluctuating. So I told her let me regain some blood before i go for the test. I dont know if we can actually deny taking such tests.
