Hi all August Moms-to-be,

How are you all doing? Let's discuss about the weight gain during pregnancy in this board.

Let me put my 2 cents first.
When I had my previous doctor appt, first week of last month, I have gained only 4 lbs at that time. That was my 17th week. The doctor said which is OK as I will be gaining more as completing my second trimster.
Though the books say usually you can gain upto 5 lbs in your first trimster I didn't. I think that's mainly because of the nausea and less appetite you have in the initial months.
Now this week (22nd week), when I checked my weight at home I found that I gained 8 lbs so far.
Anyone else wants to share their story?!
NewMommy replied. I am in my 27 week and I have gained around 20 - 22 pounds. My doc asked me to take a lot of protein and iron in food. I am a vege too. For protein she asked to eat beans (chole/rajama/soyabean etc) and nuts.
What abt ur docs Baby2Mommy replied. I had my Dr. appt and second u/s this week. The total weight gain so far is 9 lbs. My nurse said which is good and here after I will be gaining more as the baby is going to grow fast from now on. Getting ready to become BIG! : )

I am also in my 23rd week, this week and will know exactly how much I am weighing when I go to doctors this week. Till now, it's only 8 lbs total. I think it's just the way how my body type is. Because I remember even for my first baby I gained around 7-8 lbs only during my 22nd week. (Lost few in the intial months - due to Nausea, morning sickness) But then later I grew big. So, I know even this time I will be gaining more pounds sooner. : ) Actually my Nurse said this kind of slow rate in weight gaining is good.

I too like junk food (cookies, sweets). But trying to eat healthy foods like fruits, veggies, milk, yogurt..etc. Will post you all after my dr. visit. Till then Take care , everyone. Enjoy your pregnancy. Rucha replied. Hi Baby2mommy,
i've gained about 3lbs in first trimester and last week was another 9 lbs.In my first trimester i actually lost 3 lbs due to cold and cough.now i'm in my 23rd week.my doctor said that i'm doing good,coz i told her that i don't gain weight that easily,no matter what i eat.actually,i'm a very picky eater..i'm a vegeterian...
I try to eat healthy stuff like... fruits,cereals,milk.juices,Dal,beans,sprouted stuff..etc.but i like junk food..i like salty,spicy and sour food........
Bye and take care varsha replied. i have gain so far about......5 lbs during first trimester and then last visit was another 5 lbs.....i am currently 18 weeks...and doctor said its good!.....eat good stuff....whats ur diet like???????me for i love spicy and sour food......esp fruits....and i eat every two/three hrs......like bananas,then fruity yogurt......btw i am a vege...so relying on milk and at times soya milk.........:)
