Hi girls,

Can any one of you tell me as to when your doc performed the internal check up to see how much your cervix had dilated. My doc wanted to do it at the end of 36 weeks, along with the strep test. I requested her not to do it, out of the fear of going into labor much before time. She laughed at my request, but said that she will have to do it in the next visit... i.e at the completion of 37 weeks.

Since I am already not showing much, I would rather have a full term baby. So please reply.

I don't think that internal checkup can lead to preterm or any thing like that, as I am having internal checkup from 16 week of pregnancy as I was diagnosed with bi cornuate uterus which can lead to opening of cervix, but by the grace of god cervix is closed till now.
so i don't think that internal checkup can lead to early labor.

My doc also asked me for doing the internal exam at the end of 35 weeks along with the strep test. I left it onto her so she said since I didnt have any pains or any contractions ever also I had an U/S planned for that day visit so she said may be next time.
This time at the end of 37 weeks when I had my doc visit, she did my internal exam and my cervix was closed and until today I'm doing fine, no contractions, no mucous plug loss nothing.
Though I understand Ur concern since U R a second time mom but I wud suggest trust Ur doc, whatever she wud do wud be documented to be done.
