Hai friends,
I got a baby boy on 18th Sep in the afternoon. Here is the story.
My EDD is 2nd October and I was fine till 17th night and dint even have the slightest clue that this boy would be born the next day. Early morning at 4 AM I started having contractions. I dint know those were contractions. I thought it was my need to use the restroom. I used the restroom thrice in one hour and then when I was lying down I heard a small \";pop\"; sound in my lower abdomen. Then there was a gush of leaking fluid. Only then did I realise that the waters had broken and started leaking. Immediately I called the doc. contractions were also there but irregular. The doc wanted me in the hospital immediately and fluid was also leaking continously. I reached the hospital at 6.30 AM. My doc was there already. She had come to see me on her morning walk. She checked me and I was 1 cm dilated. The contractions were irregular. I was admitted in the hospital and was asked to wait. I was given enema to clear the stomach. The fluid stopped leaking after reaching hospital. The doc again came to see me at 9 AM on her way to the clinic. She sent me to the labour room and started plain drips. I was constantly having contractions. As time passed the contractions became intense and gap became less. The contractions were painful. I remembered the breathing exercises and took deep breaths. Everytime between contractions I would decide I would take a deep breath during the next one. But when the contractions came I could do nothing but sit upright, bite my lip and bear it. I was also given injections. A duty doctor was there. She kept checking me and updated my doctor over the phone regularly. THe nurses asked me to have some juice. I had the urge to vomit during the contractions. But I did not vomit and managed to have two glasses of juice. At around 12.30 the duty doctor told me that I was 6 cm dilated and it would take a little while. The doctor was getting ready to have her lunch. But then suddenly my contractions became so severe. But she said now is not the time. But another doc (My doctor's assistant) came in. She checked me and said that she could see the head and I was completely dilated and fully effaced and it was time. She also said that my doc was on her way. She got herself ready. I couldn't even sense wut was happening. Every contraction was so bad. Then my doc to came in. Everything was ready and I was asked to push with every contraction. After a few pushes my little flower bouquet was out and started crying. The time was 1.20. They put the baby on my tummy for sometime and then he was taken for cleaning. I dint even know that I had had an episitomy until the sutures began. And they had also used Vacuum forceps to bring the baby out. He was 3.44kgs. The doc wanted to give me sedative to get the sutures done. But then I opted not to have it. She said labor has to be a pleasant experience and she dint want me to remember the sutures. But I said no to sedatives. The pain was bearable.
The sutures were done. They brought the baby to me again after cleaning him. After sometime he
was taken to the room. I was in the labour room for sometime until the drip was over. Then I was also taken to the room.
The suture is healing now and am feeling better. Only problem is feeding the baby. He is not latching at all.
First time mothers, I was scared of the pain and stitches and things like that. But everything is
bearable. All the pains seemed to stop the moment the baby was out and I got such a great relief. And most of all, I did forget everything the moment I saw my tiny darling.
All the best to all expectant mothers. Wishing everybody a soomth delivery.
Bye
Rhea
