My baby is 10 months old , what shud i teach him at this age and how to make him understand the word \";NO\"; , and is this the right age to teach colors , pls advice me ... finfid replied. I saught suggestions from my psychologist Aunt when my baby started teething and biting on my nipples while feeding, she told me how to teach NO to baby.. and sharing the same.

How to make a baby understand NO:
Let me put it this way - What we want here is that the baby shd understand that when this word is utterred, he shd stop his action.

Say the baby is around 6-7m atleast. When baby was doing something i dont want, say touching a harmful thing .. i wd say NO, baby looks at me and i tell him not to do it and \" act\" like i am hurt (some action that baby is familiar with). Baby now repeats, i say NO again, little louder, and takeaway the thing. A moment later, i keep the thing back .. baby touches it again .. i refuse again, take off the thing .... but this time i dont give/keep it back.

Do something like this repeatedly for some days and baby will understand.

Once my baby was trying to hold my tea-cup which was little hot, well not so hot though, but little hot for a baby. I tried saying no .. refused, but baby wont listen. So i let it hold him .. he touched it and withdrew his hand immdly .. and learnt himself the meaning of NO.

About teaching colors:
have u heard abt flash cards? They are big cards used to show infants and teach things like alphabets. Baby's wont learn/speak, but showing the thing often will register it in the brain, so when the baby is at age to learn it, it will be easier.

What i mean to say is, u can teach if u want, or if u think baby is interested and happy and u r not putting pressure on baby's mind.

This is my opinion. Shd u need to consult an expert, pls do so.
