Hi Everyone,
I Hope everyone is doing well with your pregnancy so far and also enjoying a lot. I want all you guys advice on whether to take Epudiral or not during delivary bcoz i have heard so much from some people that its not good to take bcoz it may lead to a c-sec and also it will raise the heartbeat and etc,etc and i also heard from some people that it has no dis-advantage or very less negative affects and they say that it is wise to take an epudiral during delivary. So i am not able to take any decision on this. Please do tell your opinion and also what are you planning to for your delivary.Hope to hear from you soon and i would also like to join your yahoo group so please let me know how can i join. Thanks in advance.Bye and Have a nice time

Preeti,

Thanks for asking. Touch wood, so far things r looking ok on my side.

About taking epidural, I think it mostly depends on what the position of the baby is at the time of labor, how many hrs you may have to be in labor and how much is your sensitivity to pain. When I talked with my doc about my wish to have a non-medicated preg what he said is he will be happy to support if I can manage the pain and there is no pressure for baby.

So, talk to ur doc and ask him/her about his/her views and also check with yourself about how much pain you can handle. Its always good to expect the worse when you think about the level of pain and then decide :-)

In most of the articles I have read on labor pain its specified that fear, tension & not knowing what to expect are the main culprits on hiking the pain one go through at that time.

Good luck with your decision making!

Preeti,

This is mansi. I too have heard a lot about the pros n cons of epidural. Even today I had a conversation with a friend who advised me not to take it as she had a very bad experience by taking it. She said by taking epidural her babies heart beat dropped and she was rushed to a C-section birth. Her body also didnt had much effect by taking epidural so they had to give her anesthasia to do her C. She was telling me that if she get a choice to make a decision again she will never go for epidural. Anyway its one of the many stories I have heard so far :-)

For me what I think is, if my baby is willing I would prefer to go for a non-medicated delivery. I know its going to be hard but I am trying to build up my confidence to go through it with support from my partner & also my doctor.

Take care
~ mansi
