Subject:  Prepare your daughter.

So you're pregnant - congratulations! But you should definitely prepare your daughter for a new brother or sister.
Your daughter has been the centre of your attention since the day she was born - I am sure she will feel some change when she has to move over and share you. Prepare her in advance and help her adjust to this major change - in her life, as well as yours. It's not the age gap, it's the way you treat it. I don't think you should introduce the idea of the new baby too soon, 9 months may seem a short time to you but it's like never ending to a toddler! don't overestimate her maturity, she is still 'your baby'.
You should visit friends where there is a new baby and tell your daughter she will be a big sister soon. Don't give old baby toys or blankets to the new baby without asking her first
I have a 4yr old son and I am expecting my baby girl very soon, but to make him understand was a bit easy for me. I can understand that your daughter is just 1 1/2 year old. You can try giving her a baby doll and ask her to act as if it's a real baby, like changing diapers, feeding with a toy bottle and all.....Try different things and don't worry she will be fine. And once the baby comes still you should give her more attention and she will get attracted to the baby eventually. Hope this helps.

Dear All,

I'm Dr. Meghna Bharath. I'm a strong proponent of Natural Birthing.

In the run-up to becoming a Mom myself, I prepared for Natural birth and delivered naturally. Recently I encouraged and supported my younger sister and close friends deliver naturally as well [through remote advice, since we were across a 10-hour timezone :)].
