How to Answer Questions of Kids?

How to Answer Questions of Kids
Kids should get satisfactory answers to their questions so that they come directly to their parents if they face any difficulty. If parents do not answer questions of kids properly, they may hesitate to come to parents and seek help from outsider. Let us take a look at what kind of questions you can expect from kids and how to answer these questions.
Gracy is always bombarded with different kinds of questions from her 5 year old son. At times she has no ready-made answer for her kid’s questions. Though she promises her son to answer the questions later on, most of the time she forgets to do so. Gracy wants to know how to handle the questions asked by her son so that she feels satisfied.

Answering Kids’ Questions

Parents are the best friends for the kids. Handling and answering their questions properly help parents to win confidence and trust of their kids. None but the parents understand their kids the best. When kids’ questions remain unanswered or are answered unsatisfactorily, kids do not get right direction to think and get entangled into their own thoughts.

Questions Asked by Preschoolers

Preschoolers feel excited about everything they see. They get to know about everything they have around them. Trees, flowers, fruits, insects, animals, houses, vehicles, shops etc. are the different things they see around them. Preschoolers also have numerous picture books where they get to pictures of different things so they keep asking questions about these things.
Parents may find it easier to answer many of preschoolers’ questions. They may want to know how plants grow, babies of animals, a dinosaur seen in the book, about leaves of a tree. Parents must listen to these questions carefully and then answer them. It is important that answers are correct and they are understood by these kids. This period is their learning time and whatever the parents explain them they consider it correct and remember it for rest of their life.

Questions Asked by Schoolgoers

School going children get to interact with many more people including teachers and other children in their school. They start learning different subjects and many of their questions revolve around their school, teacher, friends and their subjects. They also start reading different types of books and have lots of questions related to them.
Parents can answer questions of schoolgoers easily but again they must keep in mind that answer should be simple so that kids can easily understand them and feel satisfied. Such kids ask about traffic signal, different diseases, death and life as well. If these kids witness the death of any elder especially their grandparents, they keep on bombarding their parents with lots of questions. Parents may feel uncomfortable with these questions but they have to keep patience and answer them satisfactorily.

Questions Asked by Teenage Kids

When kids are into their preteens or teens, the changes in their body make them inquisitive about the opposite sex. They have hundreds of questions to ask and parents do not always feel comfortable to answer their questions. No matter how awkward the parents feel when their preteen or teen children ask sex-related questions but they have to be patient enough to listen to those questions and answer them in very simple manner. Not all aspects of sex will be understood by children who are in teens or pre-teens so in case parents are unable to give prompt answer, they must seek time from their kids.
Parents must ensure that they sit with their kids and answer their questions otherwise, kids will try to seek answer from net or from other friends and it may not be complete or could be incorrect. Sex-education given by parents will get registered by the kids better and it will help them to avoid any kind of unwanted situation. If parents are not sure how to answer such questions asked by their children, they can seek professional help and then sit with their children.
When kids feel that their questions get answered satisfactorily by their parents, teachers and others, they keep coming to them with their problems and questions in future.

What type of questions do kids ask? Why is it important to answer all the questions of kids? What should parents do if they are unable to answer certain questions of their kids? Discuss here.
