Hi All,

Today I had 38th week check up. Had USG and internal checkup.
my EDD is 29th but during USG, doc found that the amniotic fluid just above 5cms. She says it is near to lower end and better to go for artificial induction ASAP. She asked me to admit in hospital before this friday.

Please let me know really artifical induction will work out for normal delivery.How it goes?.. I am really tensed about the situation..Not sure how suddenly the fluid has come down.
She told dilation could be just started.

I have surfed a lot for artifical induction. do you have any idea of website which provides good information.

Its perfectly fine to induce labor for normal delivery. They use a gel like thing in your vagina, which soften/dilate the cervix and start contractions. from there on its natural. so dont worry. my water broke last time and i didnt get pain, so i was induced with pitocin, which is other type of medication, given as trips. take care

First of all amniotic fluid level at 5cm is truely at the lower end of normal value and it may or may not reduce further at this stage as ur baby swallows it, but the AFI can be impoved with the help of ALAMIIN sn injection given intravenously. But if ur doc says that u must be induced atificially, it is normal at this stage of preg and lead to a normal delevery in majority of cases. So u need not be worried. the only thing u need to watch is the movements of ur baby, it should be there at an inteval not more than 2-2.5 hrs.(pleaes correct me if i m wrong).
