Directed by: Chris Columbus

Produced by: David Heyman

Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is a 10-year-old orphan who lives with his aunt and uncle. They treat him cruelly, make him do all the household chores and keep him locked up in his little room under the stairs.

Unbeknownst to anybody, Harry Potter is actually a little wizard with magical powers. On his 11th birthday Harry is paid a visit by a giant named Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane), who lets him in on this secret. Harry also learns how his real parents were wizards who were killed by the evil Voldemort when Harry was just a baby. Voldemart tried to take Harry's life as well, but failed, leaving a bold scar on Harry's forehead.

Hagrid then tells Harry all about the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Harry has to go and study along with all the other witches and wizards. He will be taught spells and will be able to hone his powers to perfection.

Harry sets off for his new school by boarding the Hogwarts Express from the 9¾ platform, invisible to Muggles (humans).

On their arrival, the new students are divided amongst four houses namely Gryffindor, Huffelpuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Harry and his new friends Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) are all in Gryffindor.

Harry slowly gets deeper and deeper into the enchanting world of wizardry, which he knew nothing about. He finds out about the Sorcerer's Stone, a legendary substance with astonishing powers, hidden and guarded inside Hogwarts. It is up to Harry to stop Voldemort from getting his hands on this stone and regaining his evil powers. Does he succeed?
