The movie stars Ajay Devgan as Malik Bhai, Manisha Koirala as Saroja and Vivek Oberoi as Chandrakant Nagre or Chandu. And, being a Ram Gopal Verma film, there was a special appearance by Urmila Matondkar.

Malik is an underworld gangster who works for Aslam Bhai. Eventually Malik gains power, usurps leadership from Aslam and takes over as Don. Chandu is Malik's right hand, and together they rule the Mumbai underworld. As the plot thickens, the police start tightening the net around the duo, and Malik and Chandu flee to Hong Kong, from where they continue their operations with great success. However, a misunderstanding between Malik and Chadu cause them to split up and become each other's worst rivals. Chandu starts operating from Kenya, his sole desire to kill Malik and obliterate his gang. As the gang wars intensify, Chandu gets seriously injured consequently surrenders himself to the Mumbai Police. He decides to turn witness to all crimes committed by him and Malik. During this time the truth is revealed about the misunderstanding, and the friends unite, but perhaps, behind bars.

Newcomers Vivek Oberoi, who happens to be veteran actor Suresh Oberoi's son, and Antara, did a brilliant job. The acting was understated and very realistic. Ajay Devgan, who had lost a good 8-10 kgs, was at his sleekest best, while Manisha Koirala carried off her small role with aplomb.
