Top 10 Fruit & Veggie Snacks for Kids

When it comes to keep your kids happy, you can go to any extent to put a smile on their face. Isn’t it so? And in this process you face the dilemma about healthy foods as well as tasty foods. All foods as we know though healthy are not tasty and there comes the challenge. Kids love their plates to be decorated with yummy foods everyday rather than the same old stuffs every day.
You have to apply your creativity to make even the boring foods colourful and interesting so that your kid does not feel that he or she is being given the same old foods over and over again. Here is a list of some of the recipes made out of fruits and veggies that you can give your kids as snacks.

1. Veg Sandwiches

Kids love to munch on sandwiches when it comes from a popular food stores. Why not make the same recipes at home with much more healthy ingredients and win the challenge of taste with health? Slice freshly bought vegetables like cabbage or broccoli, carrots, beans, tomato, onions and cucumber.
Take two pieces of bread and slice it along the corners so that it assumes the shape of two triangles. Spread the yummy peanut butter or mayonnaise and put the vegetables one over another and cover it with the other half of the sliced bread. Seal the sandwich with a little mayonnaise again on both the sides. Serve it on a plate nicely decorated with tomato sauce. You kids will love it.

2. Fruit Salad

Cut all the nutritious fruits into small pieces like apple, watermelon, grapes, oranges, etc. Try fruits of different colours that will make the bowl colourful. Add fresh cream or custard over the bowl of fruits. Add vanilla essence if your kid likes it. Serve it when your kids come from the playground in the afternoon.

3. Fruit Shakes

Fruit shakes can be best prepared with water melon or mango. Cut small slices of watermelon and separate the seeds and the skin. Now put the slices into a grinder and extract the juices. Then add a little sugar or milkmaid or you can also use milk if you want to. Shake it well until it becomes fizzy. Allow it to cool down a little and serve it to your little one.

4. Veg Pasta

Pastas have recently become a hot favorite among kids. If you cannot make your kids eat vegetables easily, here is a simple trick that can make your kids happily finish their plate without throwing tantrums. Make pasta with vegetables and your kids will love it.

5. Gobi ka Paratha

If your kids hate vegetables like cauliflower (Gobi), then the only option left to you is to make parathas out of gobi that is very yummy.

6. Soups

Soups are yet another healthy snack that you can give your kids. It will keep them full for quite some time. Prepare soups from different vegetables and serve them hot to your kids.

7. Poha

Poha is an easy snack recipe and it is easy to prepare also. Poha becomes healthier if you can include vegetables in it like broccoli, tomato, carrots etc. It will make the snack colourful too.

8. Bread Rolls

If your kids hate to eat chapattis and curry do not force them. Prepare breads rolls and it will have the same nutritional value with just a twist in the appearance of the food. Use brown bread to make it a healthy eating option.

9. Vegetable Toast Sandwich

If you kid hates eating subjis that you make, you can make vegetable toast sandwiches for them. Take two brown breads and apply chutney and butter to them, place the subji that you make along with raw tomatoes, onion or any other vegetables that can be eaten raw in between them. Toast it in a sandwich toaster and serve it with tomatoes ketchup. Your kid will surely love it.

10. Meethi Ka Paratha

You can make this nutritious paratha using fenugreek leaves, multigrain flour, pinch of turmeric and chilly powder, oil, few sesame seeds, tamarind pulp, little jaggery and salt to taste. Mix all of these ingredients and make nice dough. Make parathas using this dough and serve it with chutney or tomato ketchup.

Parahtas is a great way to include vegetables in the diet of kids. Some butter, ghee or cheese can also be added to parthas to improve its taste.
