Bonding with your Baby

Bonding with your Baby

Feeding a baby is a great way to bond with her. However, some mothers are unable to experience this feeling when breastfeeding is not possible. Take a look at how mothers can overcome this guilt.

Feeding a baby is a unique experience for a mother. It is bonding time between the mother and the baby. Mothers who bottle feed sometimes suffer from guilty feelings. Instead of feeling guilty, mother should focus on the joys of feeding.

I am concerned about not being able to bond with my baby

Try to do most of the feeding yourself because every person has a different way of holding, handling and talking to. Having different people bottle feed the baby can hamper good feeding, adjusting and mother- baby bonding. Later, when the baby becomes a little older, you can let others share the fun of feeding the baby. Try to switch arms mid-feeding. This gives you a chance to relieve the ache that can develop from staying in one position for so long.

I am feeling guilty about not breastfeeding my child

Feel good about bottle-feeding. If you were eager to breastfeed and could not do it for some reason, do not feel guilty. You can give your baby good nutrition and just as much love with bottle-feeding. Remember that you do not want to pass on your guilt and frustrations to your baby.

As I am a working mother I am unable to breastfeed

There is no need to worry if you are unable to breastfeed your baby fulltime due to work. You can breastfeed her when you are back from work and on the weekends. When you are not around, baby’s care takers can feed her with formula. To compensate for the time, you can opt for extended breastfeeding. Some working mothers even breastfeed their babies for the complete two years. This extended breastfeeding is good for the health of the baby.

What are the other methods of bonding?

Do not feel bad that you are unable to breastfeed. There are many other ways which you can follow to improving your bonding with your baby. Just your magical touch is enough to improve your bonding with your baby. A mother’s touch is very powerful. Provide skin-to-skin contact to her. Hug and cuddle your baby. Give her a massage. Massing is also a good way to strengthen your bonding with your baby. Talk to your baby as much as you can. Read stories to her. Sing to her. Spend time with her as much as you can.
Get picture books for her and glance through them together. Play with her. When you will get engrossed in all these activities to bond with your baby you will be able to easily overcome the guilt of not breastfeeding the baby.

What is the importance of bonding with a baby?

It is very important to follow various ways to bond with a baby in order to stimulate her brain. Bonding with a baby will help to enhance her speaking, listening and observational skills. Also babies who have stronger bonding with their parents grow-up to be happier kids. When babies grow under the warmth of parents, they are attached deeply with them when they grow-up. This attachment with parents lasts for the lifetime.
Such children who share deep bonding with their parents do not hesitate to share their problems with them. They do not hide anything from them. Whenever they face and problem they openly share it with their parents without seeking any help from outsiders. They are more understanding. The chances of such children facing problems like depression and anxiety disorder are very less. Such children grow-up to be well balanced individuals.
