Q: I am 32 years old. I had severe asthma as a child. But it has gradually reduced. Mild wheezing occurs rarely now (once or twice a year, mainly during winter). What is the likelihood of my child inheriting asthma now that I am pregnant? Are there any tests that can be done beforehand or steps that can be taken to avoid the same?
A: Nothing can be done during pregnancy. Nor can you know whether your child will develop asthma later on. There are chances of inheriting asthma, but taking proper care of your baby's health (after it is born) should help. Keep your child away from polluted environments. You can consult a paediatrician later on. INDIAPARENTING IN THE NEWS HOME | Comments or Suggestions | Resources | RSS Site Map | Contact Us | Advertise with Us All Rights Reserved Worldwide.
