Routine Tests:What is 3D ultrasound?

Did you undergo a 3D ultrasound? What movements was your baby making at the time of scan? How important is the bonding between parents and a baby before birth?

Last year I gave birth to my twin daughters. Here is a suggestion what you can do before going for ultrasound to ensure clear image of you baby. A full bladder may help, but isn' t necessary. Also, sometimes having a little juice can help to get the baby moving, if your baby is snoozing inside your womb and you want your baby to wake up. Eating and drinking will usually ensure a more active baby, rather than going on an empty stomach. But speak to your health care provider before going for ultrasound test. Take expert’s suggestion if possible. Enjoy your ultrasound. Tip: if you are seeking diagnostic ultrasound then opting for 2D ultrasound is better option.

4D ultrasound shows you moving images of the baby while 3D ultrasound shows you still images of the baby. I got my ultrasound done when I was 25 weeks pregnant. My gynecologist had asked me to wait till 29th week so I could get best picture quality. In some places they perform ultrasound just to let you see your baby moving. Most private ultrasound centers do not diagnose anything. I mean they do not perform scan to see if fetus has any birth defect. It is for parents who want to know their baby’s gender or they just want to bond with their baby. Diagnostic ultrasound scans do tell details like any abnormalities or defects. They also tell how fetus is growing inside womb.

Subject:  3D images are so real

I went for the 3D ultrasound when I was 16 weeks pregnant. Later I went for scan again at 29th week of my pregnancy. I could see my baby moving. Doctors said that they could tell me if it is a girl or a boy but I refused. I wanted to get surprised at the time of the delivery. I was not interested in knowing sex of the baby at that point of time. All reports were normal of my prenatal ultrasounds. My baby was growing and was quite healthy. When I delivered a baby last month, I and all my family were amazed to see the resemblance between the 3D images and baby. I gave birth to a baby girl. She is so cute. In ultrasound I saw her sucking her thumb but after birth she never sucked her thumb.
