Vegetarian Food:What to eat in Navratri fasting
2005-10-03
Name: Nidhi Jethoo
Hi everybody,

I am keeping the navratri fast for the first time in my life.
I don't know what to eat or we don't eat anything at all?

Please let me know about the details about Navratri pooja and food.

Nidhi

On ashtami day, after distributing the prasad to the small girls, you too can open your fast and eat the prasad. After that, you can eat anything, as the fasts are considered to be over (just avoid eating garlic and onion on the ashtami day).
Have a Happy Navraatres!

in navratri fast you should not eat wheat or rice or daals.you cannot eat onion and garlic too.you can eat once in day and in that you can make aaloo ki sabji(without garlic and onion) you can add garlic.some other dishes are makhane ki kheer, kuttu ke aate ki roti, singhareke aate ka halwa and kheer etc.

on ashtmiyou make poori ,halwa, and dry kale chane without onion and garlic give this prashad to 7 or nine small girls.

hope it helps

Thanks a lot for the information. But on ashtami too, we are supposed to keep fast. Isn't it? Sorry I am asking such a silly question but I am keeping fast for the first time

Thanks once again
