Hi all,
Refer my writeup ' Scarf with Velcrow' dated 20-10-2012. We had our famiy mottai on 17th Nov. As per the wishes of my husband and encouragement of my co-sister, I had my first boycut in beauty parlour on 3rd March. By then I had about 2 inch long hair allover. In fact, I liked the look of the unruly short hair which clearly conveyed to any south Indian that it was grown from a recent mottai.
My co-sister also had similar length but she will not cut again till next family mottai, sometime in 2017 or 18. But she almost dragged me to the parlour. She instructed the stylist to make my head a short boycut.
The stylist sat me in the chair, caped me, told me that she would use clippers on the sides and back of my head which would leave about quarter inch hair and she would scissor cut the top to about one to one and a half inch long. Of course, it would be long enough to comb. When she used those clippers on the sides and back, it felt really great. The cut finally looked very cute on me and looked pucca boyish. I liked it immensely. Everyone giggled at my look but with admiration.
This Sunday (7th), again co-sis took me to the same parlour. I did not mind the company. I adore her anyway. She asked the stylist whether she could make the sides and back smaller to beat the heat. The stylist agreed and used a clipper which leaves just one eight inch hair. The top was cut to the same length as last time. I felt great again with the clippers. The stylist made the lower portion of the neck completely bald with zero clippers. This time the look was even more boyish. The sides and back looked almost bald but still looked good. My colleagues teased me a bit but accepted it. But I felt great and cool and thanked my co-sis. My husband is perhaps the happiest. I will get this cut every month till Sep. In Nov anyway I will have a repeat mottai.
On Sunday (7th) morning I took both of my daughters (Preethi 13 years and Neethi 10 years of age) to barbershop. I told my husband that I only would do it and he need not bother. Each had about 3 inches of hairgrowth after Nov family mottai. I told the barber that both their heads had to be razor shaved to smooth every Sunday till first week of June.
First Preethi sat on the chair. The barber took electric clippers and ran it all over her head reducing the hair to almost bald. Then he massaged her head with water and shaved it smooth with razor. The same was done to Neethi. Both liked their mottai. I have told them to go around in early morning Sun (before 7 am) with bare bald head. They will have their last mottai on June 3rd. Thereafter they will grow their hairs long (as per current plan). But co-sis is suggesting boy cuts for both of them till Apr 2014. We will take a decision in Aug/Sep.
