Unexplained Infertility:TB in fallopian tube
2006-08-29
Name: Namita
I am 31 year old. After trying for 1 and half year we went to a gynocologist. She did a ultrasound and able to see some polyp in my uterus. She also dignosed some abcess near or around my left fallopian tube. Then she referred me a HSG test. The test came out normal. My both fallopian tubes are open. Now to know what the abcess is they want me to go through a laproscopy procedure. So can any one suggest me if there is any other way tackle this situation. After reading in internet I found that in India the TB in fallopiantube is very common. So dodes any one know if I have TB in fallopian tube. then is it recoverable ?? Is there an way to detect TB in fallopian tube ?? I am really concern because I am in US and here doctors are not familiar with this kind of TB. Is this kind of TB is curable by medicine ?? Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,
I too was recently diagnosed with TB of tubes when I was in India. The docs in US were not even aware of this.

I repeated the tests here in US and they came out positive too. Currently on the nine months TB Treatment

The name of the tests are
1) Acid Fast Bacillia (commonly known as AFB)
2) TB Culture which is grown in the lab

The TB Culture can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to get results. For me the AFB came negative but the culture was positive.

You ask your RE do the tests.

I am not a medical expert...the above is for FYI only.

Dear Namita,
I too had TB Salpingtis in my tubes, which was detected by laparoscopy and later a blood test. I don't remember the name of the test or the medicines, since it was a long time ago, but after a year of the treatment, I conceived through IUI and have a 3 year old son. So don't worry. If u do have the disease, it can be cured with medicine. The laparoscopy is a diagnostic tube and will tell you if there is any prob in the tube or uterus. So go ahead and get it done first. All the best. I hope there is nothing wrong with the tubes

You should have asked the doctor himself about a suggestion when he told you to go for IVF after you are done with your anti- TB treatment. Doctors have many contacts and can help you find a really good doctor.... - Ritu [View Message]

One of my relative had suffered from the same problem so the doctor had told her to stop salt and sugar completely and have porridge only for 9 months and complete bed rest and she actually followed what the doctor said and had twins.... - NN [View Message]

If all your tests are normal then plan properly acc to your cycle and see if you can conceive naturally for a month or two and then if you still are not able to conceive then you can go and try IUI.... - NN [View Message]
RE:good ivf clinics for nri´ s
There are medications available to treat endometriosis and you should get it treated and try to conceive naturally if you can and if the medications don't work and you still can't conceive then go for IVF but try a lil first.... - NN [View Message]
RE:IVF Treatment -Bangalore
I think all the infertility centers do in vitro fertilization so you can find a good one and discuss your case there or you can ask the doctor who told you to go for IVF for suggestion of doctors and centers and also their fees.... - NN [View Message]
RE:North Indian Egg Donor in Bangalore
I don't think there are agencies for these things. You will either have to search for a donor at the bank or find one yourself from the people you know or the ones they know, who will be interested in helping you.... - NN [View Message]
