Hi Meenakshi,

I' m little when I read your msg again. Are you worried of being gaining weight so early or you are worried of not gaining enough weight? I first thought you are worried of not gaining enough and posted the previous msg. Let me know!

Take care,
KR

Hi Meenakshi,

I' m from jan board and due jan 5th. I think you are doing pretty much okay with weight gain. You have already reached the minimum weight gain required for a normal person. You' ve another 4 months to go and I think u' ll defintely gain a lot during the last 3 months.

As far your gyn is happy with your weight gain n your baby' s growth is normal, you don' t have to worry at all. Just for your better understanding I' m posting a copy of the article from a website and hope this will clear up your doubts.

The amount of weight you should gain depends on your weight before pregnancy. You should gain:

* 25-37 pounds: If you were a healthy weight before pregnancy
* 28-40 pounds: If you were underweight before pregnancy
* 15-25 pounds: If you were overweight before pregnancy

At what rate should I gain weight during my pregnancy?

How much you should gain depends on your weight before you were pregnant and how far along you are in your pregnancy.

* Healthy Weight Before Pregnancy:
o 3-5 pounds during the first trimester
o Approximately 1-2 pounds per week in the second trimester
o Approximately 1-2 pounds per week in the third trimester
* Underweight Before Pregnancy:
o 5-6 pounds or more in your first trimester this also can depend on how underweight you were before pregnancy & your health care provider' s recommendations
o 1-2 pounds per week in the second and third trimesters
* Overweight Before Pregnancy:
o Approximately 1-2 pounds in the first trimester
o Approximately 1 pound per week during the last six months

The goal is to keep weight gain as steady as possible because your baby requires a daily supply of nutrients throughout your pregnancy that comes from what you eat. It is okay for your weight gain to fluctuate a little from week to week. However, you should contact your health care provider if you suddenly gain or lose weight, especially in your third trimester. This could be a sign of preeclampsia.

So relax and enjoy your pergnancy. Keep eating healthy diet and take care!

diet during pregnancy
Maintaining a healthy diet during pregnancy is very important.

During this time, your body needs additional nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

In fact, you may need 350–500 extra calories each day during the second and third trimesters.

A diet lacking in key nutrients may negatively affect the baby’s development.
