Breastfeeding:problem - no milk coming out

Hi

I need help, today my baby is 4 days old. I have been trying to breast feed. I can see that my breasts have become big because of the milk it has produced but my problem is that the milk is not coming out.

Can someone please help me with this problem?? I tried the breast pump but it doesn't work. I tried to massage the breast too. I'll try to do the hot showers, since I read that on the internet.

Please suggest me what I can do to make the milk come out??
thank you in advance
tina

Tina,
First of all congrats on becomig a new mum. Shatavari does help, u can even mix it in milk and have. It helped me for both my babies. And I am still feeding my 1 yr old baby. Also consume methi in the form of kheer. It is best for milk.

hi tina

try pressing your nipple with ur thumb and finger..till u can see a drop coming out...initally u feel the breast is full but it takes time for milk to come out...its a lil painful but it worked for me ...for initial 3-4 days its difficault to feed the baby ..but u have to make the baby suck as many times as possible 'cos that will build the milk flow...for that make sure u make the baby latch on to you when he's begining to get hungry otherwise babies just get frustrated and refuse to suck....the yellow fluid called the colostrum is very good for the baby ..collect it on a sterlised spoon and feed the baby..if the baby is unable to latch on to u.dont worry everyone goes through that...u'll be able to feed the him ...just relax and listen to some relaxing music and then feed the baby...milk supply also get affected if u are very tense.....all the best

Dear Tina

My advice to you is that first of all you must relax and try that your baby is latched on properly. It is just a question of demand and supply once your baby is latched properly and have a good sucking power the flow of milk will develop. And please do not worry since for the first two to three days it not the milk that comes but it a yellowish substance that is called Colostrums which is suppose to be very goods for baby. And if you are getting that you are damn lucky because normally it only comes for two day.

Try to drink lot of liquids (milk/water/juices) before feeding the baby.

All the best.

Regards

Armita

use tip of your thumb and pointer finger around the areola and squee..so that you can express out some milk manually. Or use a breast pump for this.
before doing this, massage and use hot towels to make breast soft.
