after our anomally scan i heard they do Triple test,a kind of blood test test to rule out any abnormalities..

Touchwood!! my anomally scan was fine and doc did not ask me to do any such test.. she just prescribed a blood test to check heamoglobin and sugar..

I am 22 yrs old and doc says triple test is required for pregnant ladies who r above 30yrs,hence i should relax.. is that true??

what ur doc says?? what' s ur opinion??

confused...scared!

I m totally confused.. my doc still says it' s not required..
Feel like going on my own to lab and do it.. but hubby says to follow the doc..

also as Sheetal said it is to be done before 21st week. and now tommorow ie 6th of feb i' m completing my 21st week.. so now what?? i have missed it kya??

i' m very tensed and confused.hubby is not understanding my concerns and says i' m being negative.. He just says me to be happy happy happy all the time.. but....uff! ok let me talk to him again..

i had a loss last year in my 3rd month of pregnancy.. so this time i do not want to take any damn risk.. kya kare hubby ko samjhana mushkil hai..

Relax !

I know Sangeeta it´ s easier said than done but believe me , its really important to be happy and to relax more than anything else.Though I am 29 but if my doc would not have asked me to get it done I would not have given it a second thought.It has taken me some time to concieve so you know this pregnancy is equally precious... Trust me... you´ ll be fine... also some people say it should be done from 17-21 weeks , some say 17-22 weeks... so if you still want one , go and get it done tomorrow.If you think you want to talk to someone,post your phone number,i´ ll call you :)

If at all you want to go for the test , you must keep in mind that the test gives accurate results between 16-21 weeks , so you practically dont have much time in hand , even if you are 1% in doubt i suppose you should take the test , there' s no point thinking about it all the time and not getting it done.Its just a blood test,so you wont lose anything by getting it done and as i can see that you seem to be worried about it.... if nothing else then atleast it will relieve you.

confused.......

Hi well i m 28 jus got my anomally scan done last week.... my Doc is not available physically as he' s undergone a leg surgery n shud b bk only in d next 3 weeks.....

I checked with him on the phone if I need any bloodtests to be done & was told its not required....

Readin all ur msgs m confused now..... what do' ll suggest?

i agree to poonam and sheetal , you should get this done if you have even 1% doubt, go to any standard lab and get it done This is not to csare but to b cautious

sangeeta, your doctor would have checked in the sonography but it is better to go for triple test just to play it safe.

triple tests

yes it was true that triple was done for elderly primigravidae , previous pregnancy with down syndrome, or any family history.But it has been seen that such abnormalities were also seen in babies born to young females and the chances go on increasing with every advancing year so nowadays its routinely done for every preganent lady

hii Sangeeta,
Well this is not to scare you but even I am 27 but still doctor asked me to do that blood test.Did your doc chkd NT (Nuchal Translucency)thickness, Nasal Bone,& chin...if that' s fine then no need of that blood test...but still I will suggest to do that test as you will be 100% sure.That' s my opinion.I think doctor must have chkd all that...you can chk reports ..

Hi Sangeeta,

I am 29 yrs old.I got my triple test done in the 17th week as suggested by doctor but I believe it' s true that you need this test only if you are 30+ , maybe I was suggested to go for the test as I am close to 30.But if your doc says you dont need one then i suppose you should relax :))
