Medication Effect on Foetus: worried after medication...
Name: Laxmi
Date: 2004-09-15
Dear Archie
I have completed my 24 weeks of second pregnecy. Till now the progress, movements and ultrasound are all normal.Glucose test conducted and are normal.
Recently i was having lots of cough and consulted doctor. After initial cough treatments of Koftet,Steaming etc,She prescribed antibiotic (Augmentin 625+Neutrolin B plus) and cough syrup for 5 days. After the same had some vaginal itching and applied Gynoterazol cream with consultation of doctor.

Please let me know whether these treatments, antobiotic will have any side effect on baby/foetus? Please reply at the earliest.

Thanks

Dear Laxmi,

i hope youve taken these medicines after consulting your gyneac. If so, they would se safe and not have any effect on the baby . However, usually its better to avoid antibiotics during pregnancy for their side effects and soporific content . Try home remedies for your cough and other discomforts for an anxiety free recovery; my doctor barred me from all medication and asked me to take ginger , basil tea , hot water+salt gargling 5-6 times a day and external vaporisers .

As regards the vaginal itching and the anti bact/fungal cream , since its been suggested by your doctor , i dont see any issue . Drink lots of fluids and plenty of water to keep continuous drain of toxins . take care :)
