Hi friends,
I live in the gulf. Actually as kids we have had lovely homemade Horlicks which Mom makes. A few months back in the supermarket here i chanced upon a bottle of Aspin ( made in India). Its got all the similar ingredients that you guys mentioned here and tried it adding sugar and little salt and loved it. Though my husband is not very fond of it but still its good for health.Try it in the stores near your place if you are short of time and stay away from your Parents place.

Hi Surekha,

Hope your children like this recipe

Kanji Powder :
--------------
Ragi - 1 cup, green gram - 1 cup, wheat - 1 cup, par boiled rice - 1 cup, barley - 1 cup, soya - 1 cup, almonds - 1/4 cup, cashewnut - 1/4 cup, dried corn - 1cup
Roast these separately in a dry pan and grind. This can be used for salt as well as sweet kanji. In addition, we can peel and grind 6-8 cardomoms along with the other ingredients. This powder should be used only for sweet kanji.

Preparation of Kanji:
----------------------
Bring 3 cups of water(or milk) and bring to boil. When bubbles start to appear add 5 tsp of kanji powder and stir until the powder is fully cooked and mixes uniformly to form a thick liquid. Add 2 tsp sugar.

Dear Anu,

Thank you for your receipt sure I will try this because it seems different but, I want to have a powder made with all pulses and grams. The powder is boiled in hot water and added with milk and sugar. It is supposed to be a energetic drink and kids likes it very much. (like sweet kangi in Tamil)
