Winter is the time when the pullovers and blankets tumble out and we are reminded that we need to take some extra care of our skin. The cool breeze and the cold winds can take a tearing toll on the condition of your skin. In order to keep it glowing, soft and feel comfortable you need to follow some very basic and simple winter skin care tips. Point to note: winter is also the time when a flawless skin is easy to achieve and maintain.

Use Coconut Oil Before Bath

Those with excessive dry skin during the winters, it is hugely beneficial to massage a very lukewarm coconut oil on your body. This is a great cure for chapped skin and even people with normal skin will find this very beneficial as the skin turns soft and smooth within a few days.

Add Oil in Your Bath Water

This is relative to your choice and convenience. You can massage your skin with some body oil either after you take your bath or you can add a few drops of oil in your bath water as well.

Hot Showers are Better Avoided

In the cold winter months we are prone to use hot water in our showers. It is advisable to opt for just warm water that is rather lukewarm, with the coldness only removed. Hot water tends to take away the natural moisture of the skin making it further dry in the process.

Bathing Bars and Shower Gels Can Be Replaced

If you find that your skin is becoming too dry, you do away with those bathing bars as they rob the moisture of the skin a lot. Use natural cleansing ingredients like a paste of milk and gram powder or green pea's paste. This will make your skin feel very supple.

Remember the Skin Guard

In winters we like to soak up the sun and within a few days we complain that our skin has tanned. So it is advisable to enjoy the sunny winters with adequate dollops of sunscreen on your skin.

Overnight Nourishment

Since the winter breeze can be a bit harsh on your skin, it is necessary to adequately nourish it. The long winter nights are basically ideal for this nourishment process. Hydrate it with some rich night crème and this will effectively prevent and repair the damage.

Allow Time for Rejuvenation

The environment we live in is quite polluted. The pores of our skin get clogged due to the accumulation of this dust and grime. In the dry winter months, the grime settles on our skin forming a sticky layer as they form a layer on our moisturised skin surface. So, treat your skin with some amino-peptide and B3. This will renew the outer layer of the skin and help it to rejuvenate.
Finally, it should also be remembered that good skin is not only about what products we take in, but also on what comprises our diet. The external treatments and measures are actually a complementary effort that must be accompanied by a proper and nutritious diet. The skin retains its natural moisture depending on how we keep our system hydrated from inside. Winter is a season of exotic fruits and vegetables too.
