Giving mobile phone to kids can help to prevent lot of unforeseen events. Therefore, if kids need mobile phone or not is a completely different issue. But giving mobile phone to the kids can be of great help.

A basic mobile phone is ok. However, kids may misuse the mobile phone if it has a lot of facilities like camera, music etc. But these days even basic mobile phones have all these features. But a mobile phone can be really of great help to parents and to kids. So I think in this age mobile phone for children is a must.
