In Indian societies, having a baby boy is a must. Therefore, many orthodox women in India may prefer to have a baby boy over baby girl. In general, whether it is a girl or boy it does not matter to a mother, she cares for both equally. However, because of the family reasons, she may want to have a baby boy after having a baby girl. In many Indian families, it is believed that boy child will extend the family and carry on with the family’s name and girl child will get married and go in other family. Therefore, many Indian families like to have a boy child.

In certain circumstances, where a woman may already have two baby girls or one baby girl, so she would expect her second or third child to be a baby boy. Therefore, women may prefer baby boys over baby girls in such situation. Otherwise, women care for children equally, whether it is girl or boy.

For a mother whether it is a girl or boy, it is same. Mothers do not differentiate between her children. For a mother, all children are equal. You ask any mother, you will find the same answer. A mother's hearth is filled of lot of love and care for all her children and she equally loves all her children irrespective of the gender.
