Newborn screening is compulsory in states like Goa. Also it may become compulsory in Maharashtra very soon. However, parents should be aware about the difference between the too. Both the things newborn screening as well as cord blood banking is good for baby’s health. Parents should always prefer such tests rather than taking health risk for their baby.

It is bit confusing for parents whether to choose cord blood banking or newborn screen. I feel that there should be one option for parents which should be compulsory so that there is less confusion. At the same time parents can avoid spending on both. So there should clarification whether parents should go for newborn screening or cord blood banking.

It is very necessary to go for newborn screening of the baby so that we can find out if baby is suffering from any disorder and take immediate action. It should be made compulsory for all parents to get the newborn screening done for their baby so that the can prevent the possible health risks to the baby. It is very essential for parents to go for newborn screening.
