Name: ranju Country: U.S.A. Comment: I beleive marks are important to some extent. without exams students become lazy, there should be some way to evaluate them, its possible only through exams. but marks alone do not make careers. Name: darlene Country: India Comment: It is indeed very sad that those who formulate our education policies, define our syllabus and impart knowledge lack the necessary skills to truly educate better informed generations younger than them. They hide behind routine itineries, textbooks and written examinations. They disregard student talent, capabilities and interests. the numbers game is all that matters to them because it is safer, easier to manage and can stretch for 10 years from one education policy to another. High marks do not make careers...they mar careers! Name: Asha Country: India Comment: My daughter understands most concepts and is very good at practicals. But she has a poor memory. She may misspell a word or mess up formulas while writing them. So even though she is good at reading, writing and speaking, she loses out on marks. But that doesn't make her less intelligent. For me marks are not that important. She is brilliant at art and ballet. I guess that's what she might pursue. Name: Joy Country: India Comment: To some extent marks are important but they are not ‘the’ thing that decides your future. Grades, marks and percentages are important for testing and without them it would be difficult how hard each student is working? I am sure there is always the argument about just learning and throwing it up on paper. But the sense of achievement would be lost from studies without grading and marks. And there will be no difference between a lazy student and a responsible student. Name: Sachin Country: India Comment: I think the trend of getting higher marks is very scary. Students and parents simply push for that extra percent as much as they can. But where are we getting with that?
