I think it depends on the nature of the violence being depicted. Children are highly sensitive to different stimuli and tend to be fascinated by whatever they see. At the same time, it is difficult to predict what exactly will entice a child to commit violence. I think the fault is more with unrestricted TV viewing rather than cartoons themselves.

C'mon people, its just cartoons. If your child is trying stunts, then it is mostly due to something else. I think children are more likely to get hurt from trying to do something they see in these wrestling programs. Stop blaming cartoons for everything bad your child does.

Yes, I do think cartoons encourage children to become more violent. When my son was small, I once caught him trying to throw his younger brother outside the window to see if he would bounce like 'Tom & Jerry'. We also read in the newspapers about how children try to copy TV serials and get hurt or die.
