i will jot exactly punish the child , becoz punishment is not remedy i will try to explain to me that smoking is dangerous for health and it should be avoided at any cost

Children should be allowed to experiment a little, but within limits. Smoking is no longer taboo. If you simply ban children from smoking without giving them a valid reason, they will still go out and do it. Instead, you need to talk to them in such a way that they feel well informed to make their own decisions.

My husband and I have strictly warned both my children against smoking. If they ever attempt it, they will be severely punished. I don't believe in this nonsense of asking for explanations. Why are you a parent then?

This is a tricky situation. I would have to say that I would punish my child in the heat of the moment. Perhaps later on, I would be more willing to ask for an explanation. However, how do you tell a child not to smoke when his parent itself is a smoker. Won't it be a case of 'the pot calling the kettle black'?
