I was really scared when others told me that it becomes difficlt to wean after 1 year. So, I introduced the bottle gradually. Name: Sowmya Country: India Comment: Though my lactation level was too high, I was in a joint family where all other family members depended on me and they forced me to stop feeding my baby as early as when he was only 9 days old, and put me back on work. I am not sharing this agony for gaining somebody's sympathy. But I want the women to be more careful about themselves and their babies which I could not do due to some exigencies. Breast feeding is induced by the brain and the mother can feed the baby with healthy milk only when she reserves the energy she gains out of eating good food, is utilised only to produce the milk and not for the household work. Hard work during nursing will in turn reduce the milk by quantity and quality. More affected would be the child and of-course the mother after menopause. The elders at home would hardly understand this logic. Indian families know very well to exploit the daughter-in-laws in all possible ways. Its the jurisprudence of the women to sustain all those, and bring up the child. Name: Manjari Country: U.S.A. Comment: One should try to stop breast feeding the baby by 11-12 months as later mothers face a lot of problem as babies do not want to stop breast feeding. Also doctors advised me there is no need after that time peroid and mothers dont have enough milk and all the nutrients that a baby needs at one year of age. Good luck moms!! Name: Shveta Country: India Comment: One should stop feeding the baba before one year, i had faced many problems in stopping my baby breastfeed, because i was quite late in that, and i stopped my when my baby was 1 1/2 years. Name: Complete agree Country: India Comment: The best way to stop a baby from crying during a plane journey, especially take off and landing when ears seem to get blocked ... is to breast feed the baby!!!!!! Imagine if you had to travel with a bab y and worry about feeding teh baby ... where would you sterilize the bottle, how would you ensure a regular supply of powder. Although I have necver bottle fed my kids, I have just seen other mother struggle through all the paraphenelia ... breast feeding is just so easy. Name: sheela Country: India Comment: I breast fed my first one till he was 13 months old and mhy second one till she was 19 months. I comletely agree with the experts which say that breast feeding creates a special bond between the mother and the child. I had a erally difficult time breast feeding my first one because I had blockded ducts which I discovered in the second month only after I landed with high fever. But with teh second one it was a real pleasure becasue she would finish nursing in 5 minutes flat! In fact, I miss those special times together. SO i would recopmmend to any new mother that they sbhould try their best to making bnreat feeding work.
