My baby is only 14 mos. so she doesn,t really know much at all yet. however, I do feel that it will be very difficult to teach her as I too, was born here in Canada and feel as though I don't know much myself! I am hoping to instil good family values, and emphasize the importance of education to her. As for the traditional and cultural aspects, I'm hoping that my parents and parents-in-law can help her with that.

My 6 year old son could narrate Ramayan since the age of 3. Even I have to refer him for some of the characters names like Bharat wife/ Shatrughan's wife. By the age of 4 he was thorough with Mahabharata also. The concept was all the more clear with the teleserials on Ramayan/Mahabharat. His father has inculculated all the values in him. Even his school encourages all the children to be familarise with all their festivals. He is currently in 1st Standard and his EVS (environmental social science) subject teaches them the basics of our culture. Now, my daughter would be 2 soon and celebrates all the festivals with equal enthusiasm and keep listening to the stories told by his father and the curious questions asked by his big brother.
