Name: Sihan Country: India Comment: No,I dont gets so much time to read stories to my children due to which my children miss that. Name: shubha Country: India Comment: My son is 4 and 1/2 years and want to listen action stories like Chacha choudhary, Pinki etc. He does not eat without listening to stories. Both of us are working and we do not have time or interest in telling him the story for 45 min. and let him eat very-very slowly. He eats only for stories otherwise he wont eat. In lunch only I come home for 45-60 min. and most of the time is spent in letting him eat after that I don't feel like eating my own lunch because I am so bored. I am bored of this activity of saying stories to him because he has linked it with eating. Ortherwise I am willing to tell him the stories just for the sake of entertainment. He himself has no interest in reading the stories but all the stories are by-heart to him.Pl. discuss this in your forum. Thanks, Name: Nalini Country: Australia Comment: Yes, I do read stories to my child everyday . She is crazy after stories. She never gets bored of listening stories. Everyday I read stories to her at least for 1 hr. and I explained her lot of basic concepts in life through stories. She has very mature understanding and now she can read stories by herself so she is enjoying reading very much. She knows all the stories of ramayana, Krishna and Mahabharata . She likes the stories of Shivaji now a days.So I am very happy she is fond of reading and listening stories. Name: chandrika Country: India Comment: Yes read the same story book every night at bed time. It has helped him increase his vocabulary, and most of all relate it to real life scene. Name: anu Country: India Comment: yes ido read stories to my 11 mont old daughter she enjoys it and thats my happines is . Name: Sarika Country: India Comment: My son 6-1/2 years is crazy for stories. He wants to hear stories round the clock but prefers his father then me. But sometimes his grand-father to quench the story thirst. He could narrate whole of Ramayana at the age of 3 and Mahabharta when he turned 4, thanks to my husband. He loves Animal stories and fighting stories which mostly my husband narrates and even I cook up his favourite stories with actions and sounds which infact now my 1-1/2 year old daughter also enjoys. Story telling in itself is the best way to teach children the basic manners, G.K., about our past and general life themes. My son always co-relates his studies at school or general teachings with his stories for e.g. whenever we tell him to respect elders, quickly he will respond the way Ramji did. I am sure my son has become so caring because of story telling only and also it has improved drastically his understanding power. We both are working but we never get tired of story telling at any time of the day/night. Bed-time 2-3 stories are must for him. Then once a week its his turn to narrate a story which is the best part. He does not miss out a single part of the story which has been told to him. Infact he never gets bored of same stories. He has heard Ramayan/Mahabharat maybe more than 1000 times now inspite of knowing each and every sequence by heart but still he listen it again with the same enthusiam. I bet to culculate the basic manners/teaching in their children every parent should indulge in story telling.
