Parents should realise that they do not owen their children and they are just entrusted by God to take care of them and bring them up the right way. Parents should not slap their child but explain things to them as they are responsible individuals.

disciplining is good for the child and for parenting as long as parents understands the responsibility that God has entrusted him/her with for the upbringing of this precious life.

Slapping is good as it makes child understand accepted behavior. But it has to be compensated with equal amount of love, affection and time. Child must know, it hurts the parent also to beat the child.

Its all very well to say that slapping a child is not good, etc. But I'am sure most parents will admit that sometimes its just impossible not to. I don't think it is harmful for the child if the parent does it only sometimes and under a lot of aggravation. Just don't make it a habit.
