Q: I am 4 months pregnant and would like to know if I can go in for rebonding treatment for my hair, Is it safe to do this during pregnancy? Kiran (Mumbai, India) |
A: Avoid going in for any chemical treatment before pregnancy. The chemicals used are strong. Instead, just get your hair ironed at the beauty parlour when you require, and get it rebonded after pregnancy. |
Q: I am using lemon liquid on my hair daily and applying natural paste on the hair after which I dont rub the hair but just rinse it. Is it OK if the usage of lemon daily. My age is 35. Arun (Mumbai, India) |
A: It is best that you don't use lemon daily. Once a week is enough. |
Q: Hello, My hair's not growing fast so please would you suggest some shampoo or oil etc by which I can grow my hair FASTER, But the product must be available in mumbai. thank you in advance Swap (LA, USA) |
A: There's really no way you can actually speed up hair growth. Oils moisturise hair to prevent it from breaking, snapping and splitting - oil doesnt actually help hair grow faster. You will just have to wait it out. |
Q: Hi, I had curly hair and I have straighted it but it has become dry. what can I do to make it silky? Does mehendi work or does it makes hair more dry? Sona (Gujarat, India) |
A: Mehendi makes hair more dry and brittle in the long run. Apply egg to your hair once a week. Also, curd will help. If you apply oil, try and steam your hair as well to help oil penetrate better. Always apply conditioner to your hair after washing, concentrating on the ends and avoiding the scalp. |
Q: I live in Kalyan. My Mother is 50 years with long black hair. I want to conveince her to wear 2 plaits daily .Also, Please suggest or consider website including all information of 2plits that helps me to conveince. Mayur (Kalyan, India) |
A: 2 plaits is not a very suitable hairstyle for a 50 year old lady. At this age you should encourage your mother to look elegant. 2 plaits is more suitable for children or young women. |
Q: which shade of loreal or any other company do I need to use to get the color like henna gives for grey hair? Neelu (Mumbai, India) |
A: Go for a shade with a reddish base. The same colour looks different on different people's hair, because this depends on your original hair colour, so I cannot give you a shade name. In any case, the henna hair colour is more orangey, and no L'Oreal hair colour will give you that colour, since the colour is not considered to be very appealing or fashionable. If you want that hair colour, but your hair is black, you could consider bleaching your hair and then applying henna. Bleach, however, dries out your hair, so if your hair is long, try this: Take a generous amount of bleach in your palms and rub it on the bottom half of your hair. Then, around an hour later, apply henna on your entire hair. The ends will be light and reddish. |

Q: I want to know the addresses of the Parlors in mumbai where the
Japanese Hair Straightening procedure is available?
And Please, Tell me approximately how much it will cost? Whether Hair
rebonding and Japanese Hair Straightening are the same procedure? Nikhil (Mumbai, India) |
A: Danny at Gardenia in Colaba, Nalini Yasmin in Bandra, all offer this treatment. The price varies from parlour to parlous. Danny is pretty much the best at this. Call the yellow pages for the tel nos, call up the parlour and describe the lenght of your hair. They may not quote a price on the phone, but you can ask for a range. Or, go personally and let them check your hair lenght and then tell you how much it will cost. It is a 6-8 hour treatment, so you will need to take an appointment. Danny charges between maybe 8,000 to 12,000, depending on hair lenght. Yes, bonding and japanese straightening is the same. |
Q: I am 23 year old guy...would like to grow my hair as soon as possible
I m trying to grow my hair from last six months but the lenght of my hair
is hardly 5-6 inches...i would like to grow my hair very fast because i am
getting frustated. Can anyone out there help me to grow my hair in
few months. Joaquim (Dubai, UAE) |
A: Hair takes its time to grow, and there is really no way you can speed up the growth process. Comb your hair regularly to increase circulation. |
Q: Which oil i have to use and after applying oil leaving for 10-15 mins and removing using Shampoo is a good process or not? Manoj (Mumbai, India) |
A: Keep oil on for at least half an hour, and everytime you apply oil, try and apply warm oil with a little cotton, or try and steam your head so the oil gets soaked in. You can use coconut oil. Yes, remove the oil with shampoo. |
Q: How to use hair strightner? Kavita (Mumbai, India) |
A: You can use the straightening iron at home, while you should use chemical straighters at a parlour. |
Q: Hi im sara! i m 19 years of age, i m a sports person and i have scanty hair but its silky and straight could u plz help me by recommending me what to do to make it thicker and which shampoo, oil and conditioner i could use to make it thicker... Sara (Mumbai, India) |
A: L'Oreal's Elvive shampoo and conditioner is really excellent. Don't apply conditioner to your scalp. Wash your hair everyday or every alternate day, since you are into sports and your hair probably starts looking oily in a couple of days, making it look even flatter. Your hair will however not really look much thicker. The only thing you can do is to perm your hair, and then look after it well so it doesn't go dry. Alternatively, cutting it in a blunt, all one length and short/chin lenght will give it more body. |
Q: Hi, I am Alok from mumbai. I am 22yrs old. Whenever i wash my hair
while taking bath, after 2 or 3 hours my hair gets dried and curly. I apply
CLINIC ALL CLEAR oil after taking bath. So, please give me some tips how can i
make my hair silky. I also wash my hair 3or4 times a day. Is it the cause of
my dry hair? THANK YOU Alok (Mumbai, India) |
A: 3 or 4 times a day! If you use shampoo, that is far too much and will definitely dry out your hair. In any case, you don't need to wash it so often. Rinse it once a day with water, no shampoo, and apply shampoo a couple of times a week. Curly hair is anyhow drier than straight hair, and needs to be shampooed less. The more often you wet hair without applying shampoo, the curlier your hair will be. Read this article for tips: Curly Locks Get it Straight Curly hair will not straighten on its own. You will need to use heat to straighten it. I don't know why you apply oil after taking a bath. Apply oil before shampooing, once a week. Apply conditioner or egg regularly. |
Q: I want to know that i want my hairs to be long can u give me some tips how should i get my haris long?
thanks
komal Komal (Mumbai, India) |
A: Read these articles: Hair Care More Hair Care Tips You could also go through the other articles in our hair section, for help dealing with various hair problems, like dandruff, falling hair etc. In short, trim your hair regularly, keep it free from split ends, and condition hair often. Henna is NOT a good conditioner. Egg is excellent for the hair. Oil works best if you steam hair after applying oil. Do read the 2 articles above for detailed tips. |
Q: Can you please give me any information on a produduct called Melancor which eliminates grey hair and also strengthens the hair. Terry (LA, USA) |
A: This is a natural product and claims to strengthen hair and repair melanin damage from within. It does not guarantee success, altough it gives a money-back guarantee. It is something that you swallow, not apply to the hair. It doesn't come cheap, and don't know if they will refund your entire money or if they will only refund money for unusued bottles. You should check that out, and before investing, you should preferably talk to someone who has actually used the product and found it satisfactory. Don't go by information on the company's website or by advertisements. Speak to someone who has actually used the product. It is not FDA approved so far. |

Q: Do you know what kind of hair gets damage faster when you dye it? curly or straiht Alexandra (Goa, India) |
A: Chemical processes are damaging for all hair types - straight or curly. However, curly hair may get damaged faster, because it tends to be more dry than straight hair. Conditioning is a must. |
Q: I want straight and long hair. But my hair is short and not so
staright. It is silky but not as I want it to be. Can you help me? Suggest me
some ideas so that I can have staright, shiny, silky and long hair. How can
we grow hair fast? I mean in short period of time. Rajeswari (Mumbai, India) |
A: Sorry to disappoint you, but you really cannot make hair grow any quicker. Yes, you can make it stronger, healthier, but if you want length, you will really just have to wait it out. As for getting hair straight, blowdry your hair or iron it with a straightening iron. Remember to always use conditioner if you iron or blowdry your hair regularly. Not all irons work well, so make inquiries before investing in one. Always, always blowdry hair in SECTIONS or it will just not look as good. Blowdrying hair is not easy. Read these articles for information. Get It Straight! Hair Styling Tips |
Q: Is Petalca shampoo available only in Mumbai? Can you get it in other cities or countries? Geeta (Mumbai, India) |
A: I am not sure about whether you can get the shampoo in other countries. You should try strores that stock Indian goods. The shampoo should be available in metro cities in India, in a general store. |
Q: Can i colour my hair ....i am 12 weeks pregnent .....!! Fauzia (Dubai, UAE) |
A: It is best that you avoid colouring your hair during pregnancy. If you must colour it, use a non-ammonia, temporary - not permanent - colour, and make sure you don't apply it to the scalp. If you can get it highlighted instead of all-over colour, it would be best. It hasn't been proved for sure that colouring hair during pregnancy is harmful to the fetus, but it is best not to take any risk. |
Q: I am 5 months pregnant now and I'm concerned about my increasing grey hair. I used to dye my hair before pregnant but most people told against it during this period. Please advise a safe hair color for me to use during my pregnancy or is there alternative method to cover my grey hair. Thanks. Evelyn (Mumbai, India) |
A: You could apply henna to your hair. True, the white hair will turn orange, but it will not really be that visible against mostly black hair. |
Q: I want to know at what place in delhi can I go to get my long, heavy curly hairs straightened out by japanese hair bonding method.plz tell immediately. RS (Delhi, India) |
A: As far as I know, no parlours in Delhi offer japanese hair bonding - or they didnt the last time I checked. For a treatment like this you should go to the best, becuase it is expensive and there is no point going to a lesser known person and spending just a little less, if the results are not permanent like they should be. Try Ambika's parlour or Raddison and see if they offer this treatment. |
Q: Hello my name is Naama and I am currently staying in India. I was very interested to hear about the Japanese hair bonding mentioned in one of the articles. I would greatly appriciate it if you could tell me where such a thing can be done in India, that is in which beauty parlors?
Thank you, sincerely yours, Naama Naama (Mumbai, India) |
A: You can get it done from parlours mainly located in Bombay. Try Nalini Yasmin, Danny (Gardenia), Liz (opp the American Consulate). |
Q: Does dabur amla really makes hair thick and long?.where can i get brahmi amla oil in dubai?. Leni (Dubai, UAE) |
A: Try some Indian stores or stores in an Indian bazaar like Meena bazaar. Amla is very good for hair and it should help. Always steam hair after applying oil because steam helps the oil penetrate the strands. |
Q: Hi, I would like to know what is the best way to leave your hair at night while sleeping? Older people say it should be
tied up while most younger people say it should be kept loose. I have a little longer than shoulder length hair. Rupa (Mumbai, India) |
A: Actually it depends on the kind of hair you have. If you want more body you could put gel on the sides of your hair and sleep with a ponytail tied high. From the point of view of cutting frizz and hair health, it is best to sleep with hair open, on a satin pillowcase. This cuts frizz and stops hair from breaking as hair just slides easily around the satin. |
Q: Hi there, i have a medium hair but not that thick can u suggest wht to do to make my hair thick.... thank u
swathi Swathi (Mumbai, India) |
A: Your hair texture cannot really be changed. If your hair is falling, you could do something to arrest hairfall but you can't really make scanty hair thicker. Curling your hair will make it look thicker. You could go in for a perm. Similarly, hair thickening shampoos are available in the market which will give hair more volume. Also, when brushing your hair, drop your head and brush it upside-down. This will also give hair more volume. |
Q: I desparately want to streak my hair, but the problem is that i have noticed premature grey hair in between though im only 18.is it safe to color my hair, will my hair further detoriate after the color fades away? Disha (Mumbai, India) |
A: Go ahead and colour your hair. No matter who tells you what, colouring your hair does NOT cause it to get grey. Your hair turns grey because melanin cells in your scalp are not doing their job. If you put mehendi in your hair you may be unable to colour it, as the colour will not hold on mehendi. Although colouring hair will NOT cause greying, it will dry your hair, so you will need to take care of your hair. Oil and condition it regularly after colouring. Egg is an excellent conditioner, so apply egg regularly as well. Streaking hair is a better option than colouring it entirely, as streaking only involves some strands of hair, and not your entire hair. So there is less dryness. |
Q: I am using shikakai for my hair. My hair is dry. What sort of conditioner I should use and how often i should take hair bath. Please give me the brand of conditioner and the type. I am waiting for your reply. Thank you Lakshmi (Mumbai, India) |
A: L'Oreal's Osmose conditioner is very effective and instantly moisturises the hair. You only need to use a little. Egg is an excellent natural conditioner for hair. |
Q: Well doctor my age is 39 and my hair thinning a lot and they are
very oily and i havent cut my hair for 6months please suggest me how could they be easy to maintain in my busy schedule Aamod (Mumbai, India) |
A: Trim your hair regularly to maintain the health. Cut your hair short - shoulder lenght, and all in one length to make it look thicker. A step cut makes hair look thinner. Don't comb hair when it is wet, since hair breaks easily. Use a very gentle shampoo, and shampoo often, whenever your hair is oily. |
Q: 1)Having a lot of hair fall after my delivery. I have think and very straight hair What are the remeies for stopping the hair fall. What kind of hair cut will suit me as I have very very straight and thin hair 2) Im have aoliy skinn and want to know how can I keep away from sun tan Susmita (Mumbai, India) |
A: Hairstyle depends not just on the quality of your hair, but also on your face cut. Hair often falls after delivery. There is no need to worry, it will stop on its own. Make sure you continue eating a balanced, healthy diet. |
Q: Hi! I have straight, thin and silky hairs. but i love have curly hairs. what should i do to retain curls in my hairs in order to maintain step cutting because that suits to my face. Nidhi (Ahmedabad, Gujarat
) |
A: Put sponge rollers in your hair overnight. Your hair should be curly the next morning. You could also apply gel to your hair after washing, and then put on heated rollers. Alternatively you could go in for a soft perm, and have just the ends of your hair curled. |
Q: My hair is ver dry plz suggests a shampoo and a conditioner available in india. Also i am not able to leave my hair on occassions as they r not silky and my face is small ,plz suggets some gel or mousse or hair setting serum so tht i can have the pleasure of leavving my hair.
thank you Sonie (New Delhi, India) |
A: L'Oreal makes an excellent conditioner for dry hair. It is called Osmose deep conditioning protein treatment, and is a professional product, which means it has been made for saloon use. However, you should be able to find it some beauty shops, or else find out from your parlour. You could use any mild shampoo with this conditioner. You don't really need to apply a hair setting product. Livon apparently helps reduce frizz but many people swear it doesn't help, and only makes hair stickier. Simply blowdry your hair straight in sections after washing it. It will make a world of difference. First, go a parlour and ask them to blowdry your hair straight, curled in. See how they do it, and the next time section your hair accordingly and blowdry it yourself. Your hair will fall beautifully straight for a week, until the next shampoo. Shampoo your hair once a week or once in five days, so you will not need to blowdry as often. It will take you around 20 minutes. Read this article on styling your hair. |
Q: I have fine wavy hair shoulder length.
However, once washed it
looks pretty full and bouncy though it is quite thin
heredarily. And i also
need to wash every alternate day to keep it looking
nice and bouncy. Could
you suggest any nice hairstyle for me pls? I do not
want to reduce my length
too much. Also I have a rectangular face with a
broad forehead. Ana (LA, USA) |
A: You could consider going in for a step or a razor cut. This will help you keep the length and steps will look especially effective with wavy hair. However, I suggest you ask the hairdresser, who will have the added advantage of seeing you. |
Q: I am a working woman from delhi.i have long hair.i am thinking of a short haircut due to job hassles.i wear western clothes.so suggest any short haircut which will suit me.i have an oval face, brown hair. Anuradha (Delhi, India) |
A: The haircut also depends on your hair texture, is it straight, curly, frizzy, wavy, thin, thick.. etc. Any haircut looks good on an oval face. It would be best if you consult your hairdesser as to what haircut would suit you. A blunt cut usually suits almost anyone and is a hassle-free, easy to maintain, hairstyle. |
Q: I would like to ask if coloring hair during prgnancy is alright? Stephanie (Delhi, USA) |
A: It is best to avoid colouring hair during pregnancy. If you must colour it, go in for highlights or touch up just the front portion taking care that the colour does not touch your scalp. |
Q: Can u give me the recipe for hair colouring with natural henna? i want a red colour not brown or orange Yousra (Delhi, UAE
) |
A: Henna cannot colour your hair red, the colour it imparts is only orange. If your hair is white, the colour will be orange, but if your hair is brown, the colour will show up as a reddish-orange tint in the sunlight. |
Q: Hi, I have normal hair and i want it to look very silky and touchable.iam using pantene.is it good for hair? i aslo want to know how to apply hair conditioner and can i apply it on scalp? Shamim (Mubai, India) |
A: Sure, Pantene is a good shampoo, so continue using it. After shampooing, towel dry hair for a few seconds. Rub a little conditioner between your palms, and apply it to the length of your hair, concentrating on the ends because the ends are the driest. DO NOT apply conditioner to the scalp. Then, comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to distribute conditioner evenly, and rinse after 2-3 mins. For less frizz in the hair, wash your hair with cold water. |
Q: How to get a red colour with natural henna for the hair? Yousra (U. A. E, Dubai
) |
A: Just apply henna to the scalp and wash off after an hour. If you want the red colour to last longer, leave it on for three hours. White strands will turn deep red, while black strands will have a tinge of red which is visible in the light. Put coffee in the henna mixture, as well as "kaatha". |
Q: Hi my name is Ameet. I am 21 yrs. old male. I had previously asked a query regarding curly hair problem. You had suggested various treatments. I wanted to know the name & address of the beauty parlours in bombay or surat where can I can get my curly hair straightened. Also tell where can I get hair Iron and which one is the good quality hair iron.? Ameet (Mumbai, India) |
A: Danny is well known in Mumbai for this treatment. The name of the parlour is Gardenia, and it is at Colaba. You can call directory enquiry in Mumbai to get the telephone number and book an appointment. Hair irons will be available at various imported shops which stock beauty products. There are many good brands eg. Conair. Make sure you try on the hair iron, because many of them are not strong enough to straighten hair which is very curly. |
Q: Hai, My name is Ameet Jain. I am 22 years old. My hair are curly and dry. Could you please suggest any method to straighten my hair and make it
little silky. Please suggest a method which is not harmful to my hair.
Please also send the address of the good clinic where i could get this treatment of hair straightening. It would be great help from you if you give solution to my problem. Thanking you !!! Ameet Jain (Ahmedabad, Gujarat
) |
A: Every method of straightening uses chemicals and is harsh on the hair, but if you look after your hair, oil, steam and condition it regularly, the quality of your hair will not suffer. Millions of women around the world get their hair straightened regularly. However, even after straigtening your hair you will need to blowdry it straight after every shampoo. There is a new treatment which is very effective, called Japanese Hair Bonding. You will not need to blowdry hair straight after every wash. This is also gentler on the hair, but it is expensive. Another good option is to invest in a hair iron. It costs around Rs 2500 or more, depending on the brand. Everytime you iron your hair, it becomes straight and silky, and stays that way until the next wash. Remember to always iron in SECTIONS. Hope this helps. |
Q: Hi my name is pinky My hair is partially straight and curly , I love to have a straight hair, can you suggest me any way that I can get my hair straight other than by using a blower at home thank you waiting for reply. Pinky (Mumbai, India) |
A: Pinky, millions of women around the world who have curly hair, straighten it with the help of a blowdryer, but if you don't blowdry it correctly and in sections, it will never come out straight. If you want straight hair without blowdrying, there is a new method called Japanese Hair Bonding. Your hair is chemically permanently straightened, and you will not have to straighten it with a blowdryer even after washing it. It lasts for around six months, and you will have to do it again. It is expensive, and costs around Rs 3,500 to 10,000 or more, depending on the length of your hair. You could also invest in a hair iron. Make sure you try it out before buying it. Some of them are very effective, and leave your hair straight like silk after use. It is better to buy a ceramide iron, as it is gentler on the hair, but is a little more expensive than a regular iron. Trim your hair regularly, apply conditioner, and iron your hair once a week, touching up only in front. Don't do any other chemical treatment, and your hair should remain in fine condition. |
Q: Can the first application of Henna make your hair really Red? Can you give me a Heena recipe that make my hair really red? I dont want to use any artifical hair colors as they might harm my hair as it is very delicat. Please reply, Thanks! Althea (Mumbai, India
) |
A: Henna will not make your head really red unless you have a lot of white hair. Henna only imparts a tinge of redness to hair, which is usually only visible in the sun - and very slightly visible indoors. Henna packets are available in the market. Boil 3 cups water, add 2 heaped tablespoons of tea and let it boil for at least 5 mins. When it COOLS, add a tablespoon of coffee and mix it with the mehendi powder to make a paste. Apply this to your hair and wash off after an hour. |
Q: What moisture should we apply to our hair and can you please tell me which Shampoo and conditioner will be good for me as my hair is curly and freezy and dry all the time. Thanks Anitha (Mumbai, India) |
A: Please read the following articles for tips on dealing with curly hair and frizzy hair Use a shampoo for dry hair, and follow up with a conditioner for dry hair as well. Make sure you use a leave-in conditioner too. Try Livon Silky Potion after a wash to see if it helps tame your frizzes. You could alternatively apply a two - three drops of oil to your hair when it is still soaking wet, after a shampoo. This helps reduce frizzes. |
Q: I am 25 years old. My hairs are getting white from black. I want to prevent this. Please suggest what should I do ? Some Preventive steps like some particular oil, food and other cares and what would be a good antidandruff shampoo which do not make this problem more severe? Sonu (Mumbai, India) |
A: Eat fish and coconut. There is really not much you can do, as this is the natural ageing process and some people grey ealier than others. You could also try doing the sarvangasana. |
Q: I have thick wavy hair and when i came out of the shower i try to straighten my hair with blow dryer but when im done its all frizzy and puffy is there a better way to do this with excessive heat? Ruby (Mumbai, India) |
A: First of all, after washing your hair, apply leave in conditioner. If possible, you can use frizz-ease to combat the frizz. We have an Indian version of frizz-ease, called Livon. It should help reduce the frizz. To get your hair smooth and straight after blowdrying, it is essential to dry it in sections. Read this article for tips on blowdrying your hair. Remember, until you blowdry it right, and in sections, you will never get the right effect and your hair will always be frizzy. It may not be easy to use to brush and a blowdryer, so it is best if you get a blowdryer with a brush attachment, so you can section and pull hair straight with one hand, and brush and blowdry it with the other. |
Q: My hair is turning white in the front.I want to put Henna, Can you please give me an easy recipe to have a red colour ? I once try but it turn orange. It was horrible and for how much time should I leave it on my hair ? Yousra (Mumbai, India) |
A: White hair always turns orange with henna, while darkhair looks red in the sun. To get a red or burgundyshade, try some of the hair colours available in themarket. |
Q: Hi, I am wondering what i can do to stregnthin my hair.I used to bleach it, and I know that is was very harmful to my hair. Well its been about 3-4 motnhs since I've even touched a hair colour product and my hair is doing better, but my ends still seem frizzy and are split, breaking off, etc. I have my hair trimmed to every 3-4 weeks, just to get those drastic looking ends off.Is my hair doing this because it is still the bleached part of my hair? About 2 1/2 inches of my natural hair colour has grown out and it is so soft and healthy, so im just wonderin, if that is why the dyed part is still not looking so good. Candie (Mumbai, USA) |
A: Yes, the bleached part of your hair is stressed, whichis why it is splitting. When the colour grows out andyou cut it off, your natural hair will be in finecondition. Just make sure you keep trimming your hairregularly. Condition your hair after every wash, anduse hair products for colour/chemicallytreated/damaged hair. After each hair wash, take verylittle - just 2-3 drops - of olive oil in your palms, rub, and apply to wet hair at the ends. This providesa conditioning boost to your hair. |
Q: I have thick, long, silky, brown hair. I've never done anything to my hair besides layering. what do you think about highlighting it and next to the highlights a hint of red? Erin (Mumbai, USA) |
A: Sounds good. Go ahead and hightlight your hair. If youtake care of your hair after colouring it, your hairwill not get damaged. Make sure you condition yourhair at least once a week, and use a shampoo andconditioner especially formulated for coloured hair.Highlighting your hair will definitely make you lookbetter, if it is well done. It sharpens your features, and makes you look brighter. Go for it! |
Q: Does coloring hair have any side effect on eye-sight? Or any other side effects in general? Chhavi (Mumbai, India) |
A: It depends on the colour you use. Certain dyes containchemicals that may harm you. You may also be allergicto certain other chemicals. It is best to stick tohair colour from a reputed brand. Usually, the onlyside effects associated with hair colour are that yourhair gets dry, and consequently you need to oil andcondition your hair regularly. Also, dyes werebelieved to be carcinogenic, but the quality of haircolour has greatly improved. Once again, stick to agood brand. |
Q: hi! my name is meenakshi and i wanted to ask you about hair coloring i have been contemplating the idea of applying hair color on my hair but somehow have stuck on to henna on account of the fear of damage to the hair by the hair color so can you please tell me the pros and cons of hair coloring on the hair and the type of color to be applied since i have thick black hair. thanks again and looking forward to your response. Meenakshi (Mumbai, India) |
A: Yes, you should definitely try colouring your hair. Henna imparts an orange colour to the hair, which is not very attractive, considering the wide range of colour options that you have! However, you need to look after your hair after colouring it, by making sure you oil it regularly, as hair colour can dry out the hair. If you look after your hair, colouring it will certainly not damage it. The kind of colour that will suit you depends more on your skin colour and features than on the colour of your hair. Do not opt for a very drastic change all at once. Go a few shades lighter. Try a light brown at first. Please refer to this article on colouring your hair for further information. |
Q: My 4 year old son needs a haircut but he won't go to the hairdressers.I am scared of doing it myself and was wondering if you could give me sometips on cutting his hair. Antony (Mumbai, India) |
A: It would be a better idea for you to try and call ahairdresser over, to cut your child's hair. You couldtry cutting it yourself, though the results would notbe as neat. If your son's hair is curly, even if youcut it a little unevenly, it would not show. But ifyour son has very straight hair, it will look badlycut. Wet your son's hair, and make him stand straight on anewspaper. With the help of a comb, cut his hairin sections. Cut it very short at the nape of theneck, and let it be a little longer as you go up.Don't give him a drastic haircut all at once. Trygiving him a trim first, and once you get moreconfident, you can cut some more the next time. |
Q: I'm 27 years old. I've straight, thick and silky long hair, upto my waist. What are the best hairstyles I can make. They're very thick so I can't use pins much. Please advice. Dimple (Mumbai, India) |
A: You can do so much with long hair. Don't use pins. Clip up your hair with the help of a butterfly clip. Try a high ponytail, or go in for a perm. Long, curly hair looks beautiful. Also, highlight your hair for a different and fresh look. |
