Weight Gain and Baby's Development How much weight should I have gained by the end of this month By the end of this month, you would
have completed 17 weeks of pregnancy. You should have gained about
4-5 pounds this month (a pound a week). Ideally, your total pregnancy
weight by the end of this month should not be more than 7-8 pounds
How can I identify a foetal movement You can look out for it between the
14th and 25th week or more likely between the 18th and 22nd week. It is
difficult to describe a foetal movement, though you could expect a fluttering
in the abdomen, or a bump, nudge, twitch or bubbly feeling. Some of you
may have mistaken foetal movements for gas or hunger pangs.
How is my baby growing The foetus is now 4 inches and is nourished by the placenta. The sucking and swallowing reflexes are being developed. The fingers and toes are well defined and the torso is growing. The first tooth buds are beginning to appear. But even though the foetus looks human, it won't be able to survive outside the uterus at this stage. To add your views on this article or read others comments Click Here
