Raising Children

MOHAN THAL
(LORD KRISHNA’S FAVOURITE)

INGREDIENTS
100 g gram flour (besan ) - preferably home-made
100 g ghee
100 g mava (made out of 500 lt. milk)
20 ml. milk
150 g sugar

METHOD
Add the ghee to the besan and leave aside for 20 minutes. Then add the milk to this mixture.
Heat 2 tsp. ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add this mixture to it. Stir continuously. When it begins to take on a brown colour and emits an aroma, you may add the mava and continue cooking until it turns completely brown. Now switch off the gas and leave it to cool.

Next, take the sugar and add just enough water to make a thick syrup and dissolve it on a medium flame. When the syrup has moderately cooled, add the besan mixture to it and churn it together. Grease a big thali or tray and pour the mixture out. Let it set and then cut into equal squares.

Enjoy.
