Rhymes and Songs

THORE
(A SINDHI SPECIALITY)

INGREDIENTS
100 g maida (flour)
1 tbsp. ghee
150 g sugar
Ghee for frying

METHOD
Add 1 tbsp. ghee to the maida and mix with your fingers until you form lumps. Now add a little water to make a dough. Roll the dough into little balls and make an indent in the center, as this takes longer to cook than the sides. Flatten them out a bit.

Now fry on a low flame and turn only when one side has turned pinkish – brown.  Meanwhile, dissolve the sugar in just about enough water to make a thick syrup. Take it off the gas and add 1 tbsp. ghee in order to remove any impurities. Strain and dip the biscuits (fried balls of maida)in this syrup and let it soak for a while.

Remove and store. You may eat it for dessert or as a biscuit.

PREPARATION : 1 hour

SERVES : 6
